Interesting sight to see
Today I was driving down I-65 when coming the other way was a GMC Canyon (s-10) pulling, get this, a FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER. The camper was about 20-25 feet in length with a pair of axles under it. I have never seen this before, have any of you guys?

I have seen a few mid-sized (the Canyon is biger and more powerful than a s-10) pulling small 5th wheels and same size tags. I talked to one guy, he had lots of towing experance and said it was very stable. The camper he had was small and light, well within the tow limits of his nid-size.
Sure did look strange

I saw an S-10 blazer pulling this huge fiberglass sail boat, thing had to be 35 ft long
Funny thing was I had noticed it parked behind a Lowes building near the interstate just before dark. I stopped had dinner and got back on the highway and passed it in the dark.
The guy had hid out till dark, at least that was my impression, that thing would have been a heck of a load for one of our trucks
let alone that puny S-10
I am certain he didn't get far with that setup.

There are a lot of Mexicans that go up around Chicago and buy old cars and trucks to take back to Mexico. Sometimes they will be driving as many as ten with all of them towing another one. Needless to say, I have seen some starange combinations coming down the road. More times then not, at least one will be broke down on the side of the road. I'm not sure how legal they are, but they don't wait until night to travel.
I am sure if a puller breaks down it bemes the pulee in that case..... as for the sail boat, sheesh if the keel was on that would be quite heaby, if it was removed for transport thats half the weight almost of the whole boat taken off.. sure stinks when ya when ya run aground , usually happens when you're leanin over, then ya stop and the dang boat stand up straight and burrys what it can of the keel in the bottom, lots of shallow spots around Dutch ship island..... mumble mumble

I've seen all kinds of things....
the Canyon(Colorado is the Chevy version) is more of a mid-size, Dakota class, truck with (I think) an I-5 engine. I'd be more concerned about getting the thing slowed down with a big 5th wheel on it.

I used to work at NAS Kingsville and I used to see them EVERY time I was on hwy77 in that area! All of them are pointed South towards Mexico!
That is a BUNCH of vehicles headed below the border!
We had a '90 minivan that my wife wrecked in '98 and the ins. co. "authorized" repair shop apparently did a BAD job structurally. It LOOKED nice but the Ins company took a look at it almost a year later and immediately totalled our vehicle.
I asked where it was going to go if they weren't wanting to insure it anymore?... The lady smiled and said "Mexico, more than likely"...
Our nice condemmed van was probably used to haul extra tow drivers back North! I think about our old van each time I see them towing those bizarre vehicle combinations South...

my grndparents have a 95 dakota ( 2 generation old body style) with the 318, they pull a 28ft 5th, taken it to alaska, oregon, He compains about "dodge transmissions" just because i had one go out on my 97 with 10k on it, at 207k no more tranny problems yet

Are you sure it was like an s-10, cause I own a GMC sonoma, and that = an s-10, the sonoma and the s-10 have the same motors in them eather the 2.2L 4 banger or the one thats in mine the 4.3L 6 banger. I have air shocks on the back and i know there is no way it can pull a 20-25 foot 5th wheel. A s-10 or sonoma isnt even a half ton, its like a quarter.
theres a picture going around on the net that showed a vw jetta with like 30 some sheets of plywood tied to the top with like 35 bags of concrete in the back seat! The rear of the car had dropped down over the wheels and it had 2 flats with the rims all messed up. They found a lady slepping in the back seat and the driver was found in a parking lot jogging!! heres is the funny part, they were from another state, and had a waiver that they had to sign at Home Depot just to get the car loaded!!! That picture is in every lumber yard with in 100 miles of my house!!
I saw a 60's Bronco towing a BIG 30 foot power boat up the Oregon coast. With a 3 on the tree and a 302. I talked with the man at the gas station. He said it towed fine. The front wheels were almost off the ground!!
