That is just heart wrenching. Really makes you think of the prophecies of the Bible.

The amazing part is that the waves didn't seem that big but they just destroyed everything in their path! Kind of makes you want to not live at the beach....
Nah!!!

I don't believe it was as much the height, but the surge that was so powerful.

so the question is, how much did the land sink, and how much did it wash away? the first photo looks to me like the elevation changed (down) continuous wave action would have washed it away...

Was checking out the tsunami page on usgs.gov, Those things drag alot of sand and stuff of the sea bottom too. Even if the fields aren't permanently underwater now, it'll be awhile before it's good for growing anything again. Just coats the ground with about 4" of sand and stuff.

Hear that Petra Nemcova got injured, too? Broke her pelvis, beat her up pretty bad.

That just makes me angry, DARNIT! Stupid Tsunami. That was the nicest darn pelvis on the planet, hope to God it (and I huess all those fields and stuff, too) heal right back to normal. Where can I send aid to Petra's medical bill fund?

She lost her boyfriend too... Tragic, but I wonder if that means she's available?

(God please forgive me and bless the waterlogged Sri Lanken-ins.)
