Insurance

How does everyone go about insuring their modified vehicles? I have a lot of time and money in my truck that I bought for 5 grand a couple years ago.

Any suggestions?

My insurance doesnt know its lifted, I dont really care about the lift part that much. As far as insuring it as a collectable, they told me I need to get something appraise (going to do this for my car) but I don't think the appraisal would be too close.

You'd be suprised. I've seen Appraisals on custom built choppers. These bikes are rarely worth what is sunk into them. The Appraiser should have access to your parts list, estimated shop time for the mods, etc. They can estimate replacement values, as in are the parts and skilled labor readily available and such.
I stay away from personal property myself, people get too attached to things, then get angry if you can't see where the market supports what they think it is worth. (i.e: the guy who puts 15K into his 2004 Dodge truck then expects it to be worth 45K used with 60,000 miles on)

just make sure you have full coverage, keep your reciepts for your addons, and take lots of pictures of the mods you have done. most insurance companies have a max they will cover in aftermarket stuff, so shop around for the maxes, and some let you pay a little more to raise the max too.
