Another insurance question

The police report says the accident was the fault of the other driver. Hence:

Why would the other drivers insurance company say "it would be better" for me to file on MY insurance and let them reimburse my company?

Are there any oversight or regulatory agencys that govern the behavior of these outfits?

And sorry about the cussing in the title. Its just that I cant imagine what they hope to gain by yanking my chain this way.

Re:Another damned insurance question

Boy, I guess that I'm lucky, or the insurance laws here in Michigan are very different (no-fault). I've had occasion to call them twice in the last year. Once, I backed into my boss' car, and the other I had some construction crap fly out of a truck and really mess up the front of my truck. Both times, one call, and it was taken care of. Tackdriver, I feel for you. I wish I had some suggestions for you. Good luck!!

DeWain

That's what happened to me once. It was not my fault, I called my insurance agent to inform him of the mishap, and he said "we'll take care of it." My insurance company paid for the repairs and they received reimbursement from the other parties carrier. It actually went fine, no hassles.

Isn't that what they call NO FAULT insurance? That is where each owners insurance pays for both and then they (the companies) battle out who pays for what.

Well, here in Virginia, I never even spoke to my insurance company when I hit the idiot that wanted to be in my lane at the same time I was. I called his insurance company and they took care of it, though they were kind of annoying about what they'd pay for.
http://www.stamey.nu/truck/collision.htm

Chris
