Illinois Toll BIG Increase In Tolls 1/05

Hang on to your wallets, the Il toll roads are increasing tolls starting, 01/05, Happy New Year. Now if you have the I-Pass and auto, no increase. But trucks, small ones might excape into the car class, but those dules, you are now charged as a 3 axle truck, No I-Pass discount. Those types of trucks use to pay a 40 cents toll, per toll booth, NOW they will pay $2.40 every toll booth, in most cases. So if you are pulling a 2 axle trailer along with your F-3500, duley and each axle is at 80 cents, times 5, or $ 4,00 dollars every toll booth. Adds up quickly. Also the time of day will effect your toll , as there are 3 time periouds, Night, Non Prime & Prime. We even can not figure it out. All I know is that the cheapest time is from 10:00 PM to 6 AM. If traveling from Chicago on I-90 To Wisconsin, it will be in the $20.00 Dollar range for that trip pulling a trailer. Even if your car is pulling a trailer, you pay truck rates. So people around this part have been maping out different roads to travel. But if in an auto, with the I-Pass, no increase till 2010.

Don't worry, as soon as they pay for the roads the toll booths will come down. This is what they told me when I lived in ILL 45 years ago when they built the toll booths. Illinois politics being what they are the toll booth money ends up in someone pocket anyway.

Seems to me you "blue state" liberals like taxes anyway!

That is why I moved to Nebraska, all red here baby.

When I was attending A School at Great Mistakes Naval training Center in 84 I mt a young lady thay had a pretty sharp 69 Camero. well she lived in Chicago and one night while driving me back to base she decided she had paid enough tolls and crashed a toll gate. As far I I know she got away with it but it sure wrinkled the hood of that poor car. After that I still saw her but chose to take the train LOL.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever heard. She's my new personal hero, whoever she is.

toll road

i usually used the old highway along the lake when i was stationed at great mistakes. did the same going to Milwaukee or lake Geneva.
can't do that on all of the routes anymore, as the toll way has replaced allot of the old roads, during the last known expansion.
didn't one of the former governor's get in trouble for having a private helicopter from toll taxes.

I wouldn't mind the tolls if you could run 70 mph or so but when I went to Wisconsin a few years ago to pick up a tractor and to Iowa the year before that, you paid the toll and most of the road was 45 mph or less due to construction everywhere.

I left Pomeroy Iowa and came down 35 to 64 clean out of the way just to miss that crap.

That is a little high and I usually am pulling the GN when I'm out that way too.
