I agree window tint should not be so dark as to not allow an officer to see what is going on in the vehicle.. however, Ive never made a stop or heard of one where the tint came into play. Good officer safety practices/tactics make it a moot point.

As for the original question in the post, it sounds to me like you need to measure the degree of tint on the truck, and determine your compliance with the statute in effect at the time of the stop.
There may be a new law out, but if it were passed recently, it may not have taken effect as of yet, in which case the prior statute is the one you need to comply with.
