Window Tint laws suck !

Just got a ticket for dark tint from The Florida Highway Patrol. It was the only reason he pulled me over. Its been on the truck for 3 years with no problems. They need to get a life! I'm gonna write to my congressman.
Just Venting...

Not to hijack your thread but has anybody noticed increased traffic enforcement? I have noticed traffic stops for minor infractions that would have been overlooked in the past. So far I have not been stopped or ticketed, just an observation on my part.

Getting stopped and ticketed for window tint made me think about it.

You have to look at it like this. If it weren't for some idiot that coward behind there window tint and shot and killed officers we wouldn't have this issue to deal with. It's always a few stupids that cause all of use to suffer.

My sister got pulled over for the exact same thing in nebraska. Had 20% on the passenger and driver window and the legal limit there is 35% for the front windows. The cop did not say anything about the rear window being tinted 5% or the front visor that was also 5%. Same with your case, that was the only reason he pulled her over.

In Utah you can have 'limo' tint on all but the front i.e drivers window and front passenger window, and obviously the wind shield - those have to be pretty much factory glass.

It's about needing revenue, budgets are being slashed due to lack of revenue, so they need to get revenue up to keep operating. I bet we will all feel like the gestapo has arrived and is alive and well in a few short months.

I have 20% on my front windows and 5% in the back. That's pretty much the way most here in New Mexico do their tints. The sun is really tough on interiors.

Yeah what a bunch of BS. I bet the same cop had illegal tint on his windows. Every one of them around here have them tinted up to the hilt.

If you see a car with 5% tint doing 20 over the limit while browsing the internet, it's the fuzz!

I know it's a pain in the **** but in some states you can get a note from your eye doctor saying you "need" the tint and the popo will let you go.

I know up here in B.C its against the law to have any window tint unless its behind the driver. I have window tint as well they always hand me warnings. but its still light enough that they can see my face so they dont give me to much trouble.

Question

I`m not 100% positive , but aren`t our 2500/3500 vehicles considered "commercial vehicles" due to weight....that`s why our registration is due in December instead of our b-day.....and therefor we are exempt from the window tint law , that only applies only to passenger cars?

Check the local laws and and apply the tint as its required and you shouldn't have problem. We can blame everything on the cops but when they stop you, who was breaking the law?

Cops in cop cars can have dark tint.Their cops and need to be as comfertable as possable.Heck they are wearing 30 + lbs of gear and vest..But YOU be a cop and walk up to a vehicle you can't see in! Make your you know what get tight.I fully understand tint laws and why.
