This sounds familiar. They were shooting at each other about 150 feet from the station as we sat down for dinner tonight....... No we work in a great neighborhood. Except that one drive by shooting we witnessed while on another EMS call. Both completely isolated incidents.

And I want something better than a bulletproof vest for New Years and July 4th.

we had a pretty bad gang problem in Little Rock
--------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want I'll be glad to send some down to you, we got plenty up here

I'm at the station right now, my second night, can't wait till 07:00.

Nothing but nusiance calls last night, like smoking dope in the hallways and setting off the master box, pulling the pull stations in all the adjoining blocks after smoking said amount of dope, then going to your rival gangs turf and starting a gun fight, 2 were transported, one with a major femoral bleed. Then off to a car fire on a lift in a local repair shop, then at 04:30 went to a neighboring city for mutual aid (station coverage).

Be safe boys, Tim

so just thought I would let you know, I had my first rollin FIRE today. it was great. hot and fun. it was a split level with fire in the garage and kitchen on lower level. went upstairs above garage cause engines before us put that out. or so I thought!!! I looked down and could see smoke comin through the seems where the wall meets the floor. no big deal. then started walkin down the stairs, and saw where fire was comin up through the stairs right by my feet while I was standin on the stairs. WOW got kinda scared at that one. THen they pulled us out, and another crew went in downstairs to get the rest of the fire. GOOD TIMES THOUGH!!! it was awesome.

Pizza????!!!!! Steaks here..... At least that's how it was when I got my first (which turned out to be at 10:00am the first shift that I worked). It was great... burnt an old abandon house smooth down to the ground. What a great start.

Apparently we do (or did when I was a rookie) because I had to buy steaks for my first run which turned out to be this fire. Vacant house that someone set. When we got there it was just surround and drown. Not much left.

Funny thing is, it really is a parking lot now.

Have a safe one!

that is a scary video...personally i never did that when i was driving and if i drive i dont do that...it is always easier to explain a break check/slow roll into an intersection to your chief than a t-bone at 50 miles per hour that could kill someone...
but hey if it wernt for videos like that and other accidents we would not have anything to learn from......

just sucks that is how we learn...from all the screw ups out there.

if i blew through an intersection like that my captain would have my *&% in a sling. the thing is the difference in time of their arrival between running emergency and non emergency is probably on like 1 or 2 mins. i would personally rather be on the back of the truck at this stage in my career, but if my sergeant or captain is off either me or the other firefighter has to drive. there is too much personal liability when you are behind the wheel to blow through an intersection like that.
