Hi-Point firearms???
Anybody tell me anything about em?? I know they're cheap but I just want something to keep under my pillow.... It probaly will never see a box of ammo in its lifetime so that is why I don't want to spend alot on a pistol. I'm looking at either a 9mm or .40 s&w. thanks
Have a HighPoint 9mm, and it's about a gut gun at best. Hard to hit the broad side of a barn! No, but really, I've put a box or 2 of ammo through it, and it seems to be getting better! ( OR I am! LOL ) Their manual says it take 3-5 hundred rounds to "burnish" the barrell. And to take it apart to clean every 1000 rounds! Really! Read it! LOL
Mine never has jammed! I had never owned or shot a handgun before buying this, but HAVE shot tons of rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders and bows. I just wanted to "try one on for size" and see if I even liked it. My wife was not very keen about it either, but she got used to it. I was quite impressed overall with the performance of the gun for having 240 bucks in the whole thing! Gun, 2clips, holster and 100rds. of ammo!

I used to live in Ohio where they are made. Let me just say they are not made to very tight tolerances and they don't shoot very straight at all. Good gun to have under your pillow that you will never shoot on a regular basis, but if you ever plan to target practice with it forget it. Just my .02
Yeah, thats all I really got it for. Doubt I will ever grab it instead of my shotgun for home defense anyhow! Double barrell. One shell with #7's - warning #1. One shell with a slug! Did I mention you only got one warning! LOL

Hi Points are junk.
Your better off buying an SKS or old military bolt action for protection. They will work every time.
Like the other guy says a Tokerev or Makarov will also be a good choice for the money.

In my house, the handgun will only be used until I get to the shotgun.

I bought my SKS for 199 plus tax. Not sure about home defense though, figure it'll take a lot to slow that round down and with kids in the house I'd be worried about penetration through multiple walls. My home defense, my Marine Corps kabar, samarai sword at bedside, 45 springfield with federal self defense rounds...then if need be I can move on to the larger stuff but figure the springfield will take care of pretty much anything.
