Have you tried the cans of compressed air to blow it out? You can take anything apart if you are careful to put it back together like it was

My neighbor (retired AF techie) cleaned out my childrens "gooped up" keyboard by washing it out with hot soapy water and rinsing it with hot water.

Put it in the dishwasher and if it doesn't work after that, seriously I've done it after spilling a soda on the keyboard (It wasn't working so I had nothing to loose) and it worked after it dried, or just spend the $10 at the local store for a new one.

You can pop the keys off one at a time with a little screw driver and then clean it out if you want. We do that all the time here at work. We will also switch some of the letters around and watch people get confused when type a J and a P show up on the screen. That is what they get for looking at the keys when they type. Haven't done it, but chances are, splitting it will gain you nothing. Good luck.

Is that applicable for laptops also?

Disconnect, take outside, shake upside down.

If not working satisfactory, throw away and buy another. $15 keyboards are not worth dismantling to clean. The oils from foods also can cause damage to the cicuitry in there. Id just replace it.

I agree but get one of those fancy jobs that you can put in the dishwasher.

That's what I do... why bother with cleaning it out when you can buy a new logitech with the bells and whistles for $15. I seem to get a new one every 2 years or so.
