Truck Trend 2006 T-O-Y, it ain't one of the Big 3!
Just got my last issue (#50 not on sale yet) of this crap magazine and low and behold they pinned the Honda Ridgeline as truck of the year. Unfortunately they have followed in the foot steps of its parent car publications and put the winner up front because of the amount of advertising dollars they spend. Believe it or not it beat two Dodges: 1) 1500 QC 4X4 w/a hemi. 2) 2500 Mega cab CTD 4X4. After I finished reading the write up all I could say was "What ever!!!" They later went on to say the RL (1510lbs) had more payload capacity that the Mega Cab (1500lbs) but when payload was tested the RL rear end springs were almost compressed fully and they saw the headlights shooting for the sky, where's the MC springs didnt show much strain. Go figure. I'm glad this is suppose to be my last issue. Oh wait I said that 4 issues ago, but they still keep coming.

What do you expect from a bunch of city boys that wouldn't know a real truck if it dumped HUGE amounts of black smoke on them?
A Ridgeline and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee at a sled pull.
Long live DTR...

I dont get Truck Trends but I get a few other magazines. I wont be renewing my subscription to any of them. They are all like that. They are FULL of advertisments and more and more the articles are becoming advertisments as well. The ATV mags I had coming finaly stoped coming and I am glad. I love my ATVs but cant stand to read all the bull poop in the mags that is usaly only half true and all abought who spends the most on advertisments in that isue.

I agree 100%. ATV's/Dirt bikes, MTB's, cars, trucks etc..all magazines I at one time subscribed to. But now, are nothing more than product advertising. Sure, we understand it takes money from advertisers to display their products but when it turns into favoritetism to one specific brand (Honda & Ford) I lose interest in what they are trying to get across.

That's why I only buy brand specific magazines. Mainly 5.0 Mustang and Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. Those two magazines have some of the best tech articles and build ups I've seen. It hurts to buy a ford magazine but until the chevy guys come out with a better magazine, I'll continue to buy those.

a few qoutes, not many folks seem to be fooled by this:
the Ridgelame
Saw a Ridgeline pretending to be a truck...

At least the buying public are not fooled. Rather than dropping prices due to poor sales, Honda have decided to cut Ridgeline production.

problem is the Ridgeline aint a truck... Trucks are body on frame, not unibody. I will barely admit that IFS is acceptable in a truck. IRS is certianly not a truck feature.

I've seen a few around my area, it seems to have taken over where the mini van left off with the soccer moms and their men w/no spines. Sorta reminds me of the recent Army/Navy commercial where the sap is looking at a new mini van and they quote "somewhere some poor guy is looking at a minivan". Motor trend/truck trend same folks different cover. I stopped reading MT years ago because of their Honda/Ford bias. To them, neither could do any wrong! As for Car and Drive, they only review cars that a small number of wealthy people can afford.

The best magazin for our cause I have found is DieselPower. I grunt like Tim the "Tool man" Taylor when flippin' through those pages.
