Totally off subject, but I feel the need to get on the soapbox.

These guys are elected officals. They have a DUTY (not a job) to work for the people they represent. In any regular job, you walk away from it and you are fired. In some sworn duty type occupations, you walk away and you are brought up on criminal charges. Why does this not happen to these deadbeats? I think that, in the least, they need to pay off the staff and facility time they wasted. Out of their own pockets, that they line as tax and spend democrats, of course.

The only reason that they are against FEDERALLY MANDATED redistricting, is that they know they are cheating the system. You should see the gerrymandering in Houston. Some minority democrat's area will start as a large block in a predominantly minority area. Then, it will snake along maybe two blocks wide all the way around town picking up various apartment complexes. I just don't think that it is fair.

If these guys are good legislators, and are good for their party, they should get elected regardless of their ethnicity. I know as a republican, there are many minority republicans I would vote for in a heartbeat. Just a few being: J.C. Watts (even though he went to OU), Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice.

Just my opinion.

Stepping off the soapbox now....
Re:Help with Texas Plate Law

Missouri has the silly two plate law as well; so much for the "border states" theory. The front plate doesn't look so bad on these trucks, but they look out of place on a lot of cars. Wish they'd get rid of the requirement--they could lower the registration fees by saving money on plates and stickers.

And what's up with a dog license? I thought the point of licensing was to prove that you're at least marginally capable of performing some function. What sort of test do my dogs have to pass to be licensed?

Re:Help with Texas Plate Law

The function of a dog license is to provide extra funds for the city coffers. Just a legal name for robbery.

Don't give 'em any new ideas. :

BTW Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC also require display of securely attatched front and rear plates.

Re:Help with Texas Plate Law

I have issued untold numbers of citations for not having a front plate on, in Houston. This citation is usually just an extra for the other citations that that person will get. It is usually not the main reason for stopping the individual. If you dont tick the officer off, when your pulled over, then they will usually just tell you about needing the front plate.
