Good luck, keep us posted.
why do you say this????? I have done quit a bit of research on http://www.ford-trucks.com/ in the forum section and at www.fordsix.com and there is a huge following for these engines wiht a 4BBL in place of the restrictive 1bbl and EGR.

I'd say this bronco running a 390 holley and offy ( i think) intake runs very very smooth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NeR2Kq_q5s

Do you plan to offroad on rough terrain? If so, you might want to think about an Edelbrock. You spend much time on steep angles with the holley and you might be prone to stalling with the big bowls it has. The 500 edelbrock shouldn't be too big for 300 ci.

The reason I stated that was because of the age and condition of the engine. If you tear it down and build it to support a 4bbl then I would say go for it. I think if you just throw large carburetor on it you will wind up with something that just bog's down when you mash it. Unless you are going to do some decent mods (camshaft, intake etc) I think you will be way better off using a 2bbl. You would be surprised at how will the engine will run with it on there.

What are you intentions with this truck? Daily driver, off roader, hot rod?

DD/ Hunting rig. As for the bogging thats why i'm looking for a small 4bbl. I have been looking at using a 2bbl but there seems to be more support for using a small 4bbl like a holley 390 or an autolite 4100 wiht 1.08 venturies

One of my buddies dad has a shop in my town, he has an enormous inventory of hard to find Ford parts. I believe the venturi style carb you are looking for was used on the 302 and 351 engines in the crown vics during the 80's. Let me do some digging and I will get back to you.

Ok now that i have switched to an Offy intake with a 2100 autolite and efi manifolds what else needs to be done?

1. I need a way ot heat the carb.
Answers:
1. V-8 air cleaner and re attach heat riser some how maybe weld bolts to new exhaust
2. I have heard of a hot water heater/ Spacer
a. I really dont want another spacer on my carb
b. How else could i heat the carb? I live in North western ND and it get edit COLD here like -40*F

2. Whats this i hear about having to do something to my distributer? some kind of mod where i changeteh spark? It seems to run fairly smooth right now. What would thisdo for me? thanks, Kyle

ps. 2100 autolite w/1.14v I also have a 4 speed man and I chose to use a manual choke also thanks.

PS. PIX and a youtube vid to follow once i get an exhaust mounted up

I would go with option one. A spacer will heat the mixture once it is through the carb but you will still be prone to carb icing. Also with a heated air cleaner setup, you can plumb cold air in from behind the grill and when you floor it and vacuum drops you get a nice cold mixture for max power.

Distributors for EGR engines have more vacuum advance than non-EGR applications. If you set the timing for best WOT power you will probably get light throttle ping. You need to limit the vacuum advance travel if this occurs - a simple job if you have a welder.
