Help!! 4L60 GM tranny swap
I'm upgrading an old diesel suburban from a three speed tranny to a overdrive unit, the 4L60 not to be confused with the 4L60E.
GM made the 4L60 for one year (1993). I was originally trying to get a 700R4 and accidentally bought this tranny. Once I realized my mistake, I than tried to sell it. The person who called about it, ran the numbers on the side of the tranny and told me what I had. The 4L60 is basically an upgraded 700R4 without a kickdown cable and is supposed to be stronger and not have all the hangups that the 4L60E has. He told me there is info out there that shows how to wire the 4L60 like the 700R4 to earlier model engines.
I have been researching and have not found any info regarding this wiring adaptation that he has spoken of.
What is more interesting is that the tranny has a 13 pin electrical connection. I went to the GM parts guy and he has confirmed that the tranny is in fact a 4L60, but a late model as in the next months model was the 4L60E. He told me to pop the pan and I should find that only a few of the pins were actually used.
A couple of the local tranny shops say they have read where people have adapted these transmissions to earlier engines without the use of computers.
Regardless of what month this tranny was built, I hoping somebody out there will know how to wire this tranny. Can you help me?

Joops, I have never known a 4L60 to not have a kickdown cable. Been a GM guy all my life too.
I still think you may have an early 4L60E, pop the pan to confirm, if it is not all electric there would be no way to regulate line pressure.
