Headed Home to do some serious drinking.
They did 20% paycuts instead of layoffs at my place too, fortunately I was supposed to get on commission in 09 and since that didnt happen my base pay wasnt cut. Although not going on commission will cut me out of about 20 grand this year. I think this is alot of smaller companies solution to keep from laying off employees. Our owner does realize that everyone has families and offed this up as an alternative.

Demand is down, so wages and jobs get cut. Because wages are down and jobs aren't secure, demand is going down.
What sector are you working in, if you don't mind my asking?

I feel your pain.
I got laid off in Aug. 08 and started a new job in Sept 08 at 25k less a year. Then in mid Nov. took another 20% pay cut. Times are very tough right now.

Sorry to hear that, someone once said something similar to this, 78% of something is better than 100% of nothing. Sucks bad about the health insurance though, cut your pay and cut insurance completely.
