Well, if it really got bad I could always buy a camper and set it up on my sister's property for free. She just happens to live about two hours away in the middle of nowhere. I don't want to do that but at least I have that option.

One good thing out of all this mess our country is in. We are learning there is a difference between what we want and what we need.. If the politicians do not kill our nation we will be stronger coming out the other side. Like the Great WWII Generation.

I sure hope you are right. I've been pretty down this weekend but I guess I still am lucky to be employed. I hate to have to do my job for what they are paying me right now but it still beats the alternative...
I feel bad for all you guys out of work and I hope things get better soon....

My best bud has been telling me for 20 years now to get out of private industry and get a govt job. It's harder to get in but it also takes a lot more to lose your job, especially if you are a hard worker. My problem is that I now have the perfect job for me. I really like what I do and it comes easy for me. My business is directly affected by the housing market though and I'm gonna have to update that resume and start looking at some of those govt positions so at least I may have a retirement plan other than my crappy 401K which does not have nearly enough in it to retire at a decent age....

Got a decent job and my Navy retirement ... doing good. Even picked up a 3% raise a few days ago . Although one of our senior VP's got canned yesterday ... he can live for quite a while w/out a job though.

My family has always based our living expenses off of single income ... and when needed, the wife went to work to fill in the gaps. We live very humbly and this has always paid off for us.

I'm not a big fan of donuts though !!

I will be praying for all who are having hard times right now ... hard times call for hard decisions. I know the military has sure been overloaded with applicants in the last year because of it.

Hang in there folks !!

Cheers,
PISTOL

It's the prez of the layoff club here with a update.
I finally got a job Wooohooo
Over four months off
We have went threw most of our savings and now we are about to cash out my 401k the new job is a third of what my pay was but it's a job.
I have done a small amount of side work building ornamental fences or carports but it just wasn't enough.
I almost had to give up the truck.
Good luck to you all.
