Don't worry - you were spot on!

We used the Garmin 2620 all weekend. The map detail is even better than the Alpine OEM unit that came with my Acura. It located just about any obscure address in small Texas towns that we could throw at it, and calculated the route without any problem. The voice directions were excellent, screen resolution was good....I'm a happy camper!

Glad you are happy with it. Just in case you are not aware there is an update available for the map database; City Navigator 6 is now available (most if not all of the off-the-shelf units have version 5). Since you purchased your unit after the update was announced Garmin will provide you a free upgrade. For the 2610 series (which uses flash memory cards) they just send you a new CD set, not sure what they do for the 2620 (which use an internal hard drive card) but Garmin has said that the 2620 models will also be upgradeable so you should call Garmin's customer service for instructions. Also check to see that you have the latest firmware installed (version 3.80) in the unit as the later versions add a lot of features. Upgrading the firmware is very easy and only takes a few minutes. See http://www.garmin.com/support/downlo...ils.jsp?id=521 for details. Note that the firmware update and the map database update are two separate items and not related to one another.

Have fun!

Thanks for the help guys! I checked on a PDA at Radio Shack that will do about all I need it to do for around 500 bucks.....I'll take a chance on getting lost before spending that much

The Nav. system in the Honda is pretty nice with the voice commands and all but only as accurate as the data it receives. I was taking my 12 year old Daughter to a new friends house a while back, not wanting to rely on her directions I entered the friends address.....well, I entered the wrong town (the one my daughter suggested) and wound up almost in a corn field in the middle of no where It was worth it since we had a good laugh about it.

If you have access to a laptop check out DeLorme products. You can get their GPS unit and Street Atlas software for less than $200 dollars. I have been using it for several years and it is hard to beat.
