Exclamation Government already warning about scams in the "Cash for Clunkers" program

There are links in the story for the official websites with info about the program. If you're thinking about using a qualifying vehicle for a trade, make sure of the rules before you go in or you could lose thousands of $$$$$$$.

Thanks for the article . I hadn't realized pickups don't have to improve their mileage as much as passenger cars to receive the $4500 . Chrysler says they will match the rebate . "Chrysler Group LLC announced Wednesday it would match the government's incentive program for most of its 2009 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. The automaker will offer consumers an additional $3,500 to $4,500 rebate or zero percent financing on top of the money they will already receive from the federal government. "

Clunkers.

My buddy's a dealer. He said the application and rulebook is an inch thick. The dealer is paid $50.00 to drain the clunker's oil, then pour two qts. sodium silicate or some other seize agent and run the vehicle until it seizes up. They next call the towtruck and it goes to the junkyard and must be flattened. He exhaled and then stated"another government program". That's the simple version.

So the real scam is the cash for clunkers program. Ruining perfectly good engines that will some day be needed as cores for someones vehicle that they are maintaining. These idiots MUST be stopped before this country has nothing left.

Why, would anyone turn in a good runing vehicle, so it can be destroyed? It sounds like the government, is trying to put the used parts people out of buisness. What's next outlawing the production of new parts for anything over 10 years old? These idiots have got to be stoped, before they completely destroy this country.

Makes me wonder why a dealer would take in a vehicle they can't resale and make money off of.
Yes a big brother scam. Looks like a good time to invest in your local dump.

Part of the payoff for this program, in the government's eyes, is that older, larger cars that are perceived as less environmentally friendly will be removed from use. It will do no good if the autowrecker can turn around and sell the engine, so someone else can keep their old "polluter" alive longer.

Seems that there is more to this scam than meets the eye:

Yep. And they are talking about raising our taxes to pay for it and the other "slight of hand" stimulus programs.
