I love my 1984 mercedes diesel. no way am I going to pay 24 grand for a new car for the trade in this program proposes.....I would lose all the way around. money, gas mileage, insurance high costs, etc.

They are right and on top of that you can do better on your own makeing a deal and if you want to get suckered in you can always get the old $3,000 for the push pull or drag in as seen on TV.
This may create a market in about 8 to 12 months when the people using this for the down payment get behind and get'em taken back. Oh wait they will all get a bail out by that time and we all can pay for their car.

That's the part I don't like ... where does the money come from to pay people for their clunkers ?? Your pocket and mine !!
Why are we responsible to buy someone elses junk ?? Oh, that's right ... all part of the new "What's mine is mine and what's YOURS is mine" White House philosophy.
