Got a gun pulled on me
Got a gun pulled on me
Yep, a fool in a ford explorer cut across 3 lanes of traffic, left to right, and would have taken my front end off. My wife was looking in her purse, which was on the floor, and I hit the brakes so hard she hit her head on the dash board. That got me keyed up. I honked and gave the guy the #1 sign, and I guess he decided to represent to his 4 homies who were with him. He tailgated me for a while, then pulled up beside me at a light and acted like he was shooting me with his fingers. I then made a couple comments that I shouldn't have, and he jumped out and tried to open the passenger door just as the light was changing. Then he caught up and rode beside me, and I commented some more, and he promptly pulled a black handgun. I had to pass a bunch of cars on the shoulder, but he couldn't come close to keeping up. Talk about nuts. Yall better think twice who you flip off in traffic anymore, there's some real wackos out there. Ruined our afternoon, I've been jumpy ever since.
It's amazing how that works. They cut you off and your not supposed to be.......upset?? And if you get upset and use sign language to voice your opinion to the bonehead....they think you have a problem but don't understand why?? Do they honestly think they have done nothing stupid? Let me guess, three lanes of traffic and not even the courtesy of a turn signal? Bunch of darn thugs and hoods....I'm bad gonna put a cap in yo........but it was all your fault Timberman

I've actually heard of people getting killed over stuff like that. Actually a minivan was shot up a week or two ago here in TN. Not really funny, but funny thing was the shooter was a quack at the VA hospital!!
Glad you did not get hurt by the innocent guy who cut you off!!

Yeah, that's how I felt. But looking back, it was really dumb for me to mouth off so bad to him, especially with my wife in there. I just couldn't help it though, it just poured out of my mouth, but almost got me in a lot of trouble. I probably will do a lot less bird flipping and a lot more 911 dialing for traffic incidents from now on. That stuff just doesn't happen around here, I guess more gangs are starting to show up and bringing that with them. Trouble is, if you call the police and report an aggressive driver, they treat you like your a whiny little B who can't handle driving on the road, and just say they'll make a note of it. I guess that's about all you can do though, I'm not flipping anyone off anymore.
Calling in 911? You were just as guilty for road rage as the other guy and part of the problem.
Obviously that guy was a bozo clown for pulling a gun.
Best thing to do is keep a cool.
I know thats a hard thing to do...I almost got into a fight a couple months back over a road rage incident (tailgater!).
You did the right thing overall though by just getting away and keeping your wife and yourself safe.

I hate to say it, but if somone pulled a gun on a loved one, I would be the one shooting first.
No question in my mind. If someone pulled that stunt on me, they had better use it, because my response would be to shoot them, and claim self defence to the cops.
Moral of the story : You don't threaten with a gun. You either pull it to use it, or get shot. This is not negotiable... 'represent' ya, I would say that is a great way to get shot!

Got juice thats completely stupid. Talking tough on the internet is one thing but in real life people go to jail for a long time in the states for shooting from a moving vehicle to a moving vehicle.
There are road rage laws in every state. Guns are great I totally agree but going around like Clint Eastwood pulling guns will just get you killed.

Nowdays you never know what or who you are dealing with on the road. Everybody may be armed. Consider yourself lucky to have learned a valuable lesson without being harmed.
I just catch the liscence plates and call 911 and report a dangerous driver, complete with the best description of the driver as possible. No matter how mad I am.

P.S. Your truck out weighs an Explorer by almost twice and will leave an indellible impression.

I did have a gun in the console, but you can't just start shooting in traffic. I had room to get away from him, so I did, but if the truck had broken down or whatever and prevented me from getting away I'd have had to consider defending myself.
I don't see how I wouldn't be justified in calling the police. You can certainly expect to express your feelings about a near collision caused by a fool without the expectation of getting shot. And I don't think you'd just turn the other cheek with a 18 year old little straight up gangsta trying to intimidate you at the light either. Please. He needs a good beating with a belt, and a job.

Timberman, what were you thinking? Now, all of a sudden you realise how dangerous it was. You put your wife and yourself in grave danger by acting the way you did. You never thought about what to do if this happens? Where have you been? Your first response was to try to get even with the guy and yelling at him? Your JOB is to protect your wife, and yourself, not play vigilante.
Then you failed to get the license number and call 911 which allows this guy to do it again, and maybe kill someone. Thanks. Your job as a citizen of this country is to report crime to the authorities.
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Just my opinion, but if ANYBODY is tailgating me, I introduce them to my reciever hitch. There is no sense in someone driving that way. And right or wrong, if anybody opened my passenger side door, I would agree with juice. There would be a dead man. Its time the general public started fighting back. There are too many hoodlums on the road, not to mention everywhere else... JMHO

I also would have had a harder time not smashing their Explorer to pieces with all of them inside with my truck once I had been threatened with a gun!

I disagree. Gun's don't kill people. People Kill People. And is someone pulls a gun, they have INTENT to use it.
If they are unwilling to accept the responsability for their own action of stupidity, well that's too **** bad IMHO.
It's not about talking tough on the net.
On the other side, I am glad to see everyone escaped without harm, which is the best you can hope for.
I guess. Most red blooded americans would have responded in a somewhat similar fashion, but that doesn't make it right. I learned a lot from it, I guess. Just hope it doesn't happen to someone else.
Don't want to get this thread locked talking about guns in traffic and all, just wanted to make people think before they react in a similar way. I'm sure people get cut off all the time.
