Got a good tip the other day

I was talking to a car broker friend of mine the other day and he said to NOT buy a used car for the next 6 months to a year because of the ambundance of flood cars that are going to be out there for sale. All the dang cars from louisiana and down south are going to FLOODING ( pun intended ) the market!!!! People are gonna try to clean them up and sell them and you could get stuck with a freakin MOLD bucket on wheels!!! Just a good thought to put in the back of your head that I figured I would share with ya folks!!!

I heard (forgot the source) that savy borkers have found a way to "wash" the titles by transfering it a few different times in different states to end up without the salvage designation. There is a website that I saw that gave tips on how to pick out a flooded car, only one I remember is to look waaaay up under the dash with a flash light. There are many unpainted metal parts that will be rusty or there could be mud on the wiring and such where the detailers can't get.
Anyway, it's sad for the people that will get smoked on what seems to be a nice car.

I'm sure that the interior would be shot, but what about driveline components?

I can imagine that the however many thousands of cars damaged in the flooding would be a scavager's dream... But I have had to clean out old boat generators before that have had salt water in the crankcases... You can get them running, but they usually don't last long...

i herd that they might crush some of them??? i dont know for sure. might have been just a rumor. But i can see the sence in it. if the insurance crushes them, then they dont have to insure them in the future and possibly prevent a major loss in $$$

They will crush what they can, but if unethical people get ahold of them before the crusher, they will be on the market

I work for a Toyota dealer here in the N.E., with all the rain we have had last week (19 inches in some places) we have had a couple of flood cars come in the shop. Let me tell ya, it is one of the worst things to have happen to any vehicle but it is sooo easy to disgiuse. I have a Scion XB I`m working on now and more than likely it`ll be totaled...just due to the electrical system damage alone (PCM,Radio, wire harness etc.) Heck I don`t even know if the motor`s toast or not....STAY AWAY from them it`s a $$$$ pit of bottomless proportions.
