I'm agreeing with you. I was trying to say that it looks like you, 4x4dually and I have pretty much the same attitude. I was quoting you as someone I am in agreement with. Not opposed to. I was saying that you and 4x4dually seem to be as out of touch as me. Now if you 2 do not want to be lumped in with me. No offense intended.
I am not the best communicator.

You don't sound out of touch to me. I'm not even married yet and I have ONE bank account with my GF on it also. Best thing I ever did. Combined income is AWSOME

When my wife and I got married we took a piece of paper and wrote down every bill we had, rent, heating oil, elec. ins. gas for cars...everything. We both worked and we we able to usually put one of our checks each week into savings. We were pretty consertive. We now have 4 checking accounts, but that's because we have to pay particular bills from particular accounts according to IRS rules, if you're ever challanged!

Around my house it's simple, bills get paid first. What's left over goes to whatever is needed or wanted, or hits the savings for whatever. Every day can be Christmas as far as getting something you heart desires. We DO discuss big, expensive stuff, but other than that, it's a done deal - we both put into the pot, we both can take out of the pot.

When it comes to who is the head of the household, we agreed lots and lots of years ago that it would be neither. When something comes along that requires a major decision, there is discussion, but whichever one of us is the better at the area being decided upon has the final decision.

We also agreed many moons ago to always put the other person first in every way. So when I am considering something I might want to do, or spend money on, or whatever for myself - I stop and take stock of what I have done to meet the rule and if I have been doing my share there, then I don't think twice about something for myself. Usually I mention what it is that I am considering, and as long as it is not something too beyond grasp, it amazingly shows up on the doorstep.

We also have several checking/savings accounts, all of them joint 'OR' accounts, all fall into the IRS specifics like D2 Cat. Everything we have is 'OR', we have tons of mutual respect and trust. We work hard to make sure each of us has their hearts desires, that why we still are each others hearts desires.

I imagine he's talking about farm accounts, business accounts, etc. That way you can write off everything at the end of the year.

When my wife and I got married (23 years ago) I told her I would make all of the big decisions and she could make all of the little ones. So far it's worked great, I haven't had to make any yet. Actually it's pretty much as CD in NM states above.
