I have always had a Cobra and had good luck with them. I have the Cobra 19 and I have no complaints, this is my 2nd one. You can usually pick them up for about $50-60 bucks.

I have an RCI 2970-dx amateur radio (10 and 12 meter, modified for 11 meter(cb)).

I only use it in mexico, since it's an export-only model.

I have a Uniden PRO538W. Nice radio, buch of features, one of the best being the front panel speaker. The only thing it doesn't have that I can think of is back lighting and the roger beep. I paid about 80 for mine. Quick rundown of features:

# Front Fire Speaker
# Full 40 Channel Operation
# Instant Channel 9
# NOAA Weather Channels
# PA/CB Switch
# RF Gain
# S/RF Meter

A Uniden PC 68 LTW or elite. Just make sure that you run the largest antenna possible and get the SWR tuned. I have a Uniden PC78LTW and a Grant LT (discontinued). They are great radios. I run either a Wilson 5000 mag mount or a Wilson 6' silverload fiberglass antenna.

I'm running the Cobra 29 NWST blah blah. I forget all the features but I love having NOAA on it, and all the other buttons, works great. Just like a truck, pick out the CB that you will use, and the features you will use. Some of the stuff I don't need but this one had everything that I did need. I love mine = )
