GMC Power tools
Anyone here ever use or even hear of GMC tools? They sell them at Lowes I believe. My dad had bought a 18v Cordless about a year ago before we moved and we used for everything from drilling through 6x6s and screw steel roofing down. It would last a whole day on one battery depending on what you were doing with it. It has been dropped off the roof a few times, ran over with the skidsteer(forgetting it was on the tire). Then one day the Charger went bad so we could not charge the batterys no more(after using it hard for 6mos). Well my dad called and found out it is a Australian company, the guy said they have had problems with the chargers and new ones were on back order, so we would get one A.S.A.P.
Fast forward to yesterday, We were talking about how it would be nice if the charger would of showed up for the Cordless for doing are garage roof and my neighbors barn roof(he called last september),that he was going to give them a call a see if they were just telling him that they would send one out or what. Today we were putting th trusses up on the garage and the mail came and stuf and we walked in the house tonight and their is a box sitting on the table from GMC tools with the charger in it. It was shipped on the Aug. 14th so it did not get lost,They must of knew some how that we needed it to put the roof on easier
.. Craftsman,Ryobi,Dewalt, etc. would of probably never sent one out if they did not get a chance to in the first 3 weeks or so after you called them unless you hounded them for one.,or they would of never admitted to there being a problem.
So for the long post, but I guess this is more of a review for the tools and the company and to see if anyone else uses their tools.
Here is the drill

Looks pretty tuff. Kinda favors an old Ryobi or something. Customer service means everything and im glad they took care of you. I will have to say that my heart will always be with DeWalt though.
Its good they took care of you.
How is the weight? We have a dewalt at work that is great to use because its light, but dont tackle anyhting heavy because transmission is plastic. (we fry on every few months)

It is fairly light for the size and durable. Begle, They are Made in Australia. They are the DeWalts or Australia I hear.
We use it for steel roofing it is easier then carrieing a corde around. We put up are garage roof today in under 5 hours that includes straping the trusses,We used one battery and it is like around 800 screws or so. It was 22 sheets on it.

Yes the roof is different colors,it was cheaper that way. The sheets are either primered, oxidized(glavanized sheet) or cover sheet for the stacks of steel. the sheet we got were about 80cents a ft V. $2.00 a ft.all we have to do is spray it black and it wwill be one color.
Next weekend we have 48 sheets to put on the neighors barn roof, that will be about 2000 screws.

I am not knocking any opther drill brands. We have at least one of every brand drill in the tool box,They all have different uses. The GMC works perfect for steel roofing since it put the screw in fast, but knock to fast since you need the screw to only go in enought to squish the washer or it will strip out of the wood.
