Glock 37 in 45 GAP

If you are on the fence or have been kicking around the idea of either a smaller frame ( 9 mm size ) or the shorter than normal 45 round I say....get off the fence.

I received a Glock 37 as a gift last week. It is one sweet pistol. The frame size is the same as the Glock 17, but the slide is slightly larger for the 45 GAP round. It fits my hands very nicely.

If anyone has doubts on the power of the 45 GAP VS the 45 ACP, it is not an issue. The GAP is stout with all loads, even the 230 grains now!

I liked the 185 grain Lawman TMJ's.

Wow that's great! That's a really nice gift to receive!

One of my shooting instructors whose also a retired sheriff is a big advocate of the 45 GAP round.

I don't think so, a few state agencies have adopted the 45 GAP so it should be here to stay.

To be honest I hope the list is a lot longer other wise the 37 may go the way of the DODO bird. If you look at how many Law Enforcment Agencies are out there that is not a lot of angecies carrying the 37. How ever the 37 was designed for L.E. to fill the gap hence the name and yes it stands Glock Automatic Pistol also, play on words according to the rep, for the angencies that wanted 45's but could not afford them and for the fact the 37 is smaller than the 21. So you get almost a 45 ACP but not the wieght or bulkeness of the 21's. IMO I think they are a good thing but with the right ammo you can get almost the same thing out of the 22. Hence why my department passed on buying them.

The 45 GAP is a solution looking for a problem. Or something to sooth Gastons ego. Smith, Sig, Remington, and Ruger all have a cartridge now Gaston does.

If given one then I'd be very happy. I wouldn't buy one. 'Ammo is still much more difficult to get, and a bit more spendy.

My buddy's shop has had a xd in 45gap on the shelf for well over a year now. He can't keep the xd45acp's on the shelf. I thought about getting a pistol in GAP when the first came out but I didn't like the ammo situation. I usually will not buy a gun that the ammo is not readily available with exception of my 17hmr at the time. I hope the GAP stays around but I doubt it with even glock jumping on the ACP bandwagon. I also wouldn't put a whole lot of faith in the LE acceptance issue either I remember when 10MM became a big LE thing and now they are a pain to find ammo for too since the 40S&W came out.
