giving up freedoms

i am truly amazed at what some folks are ready to give up. most have the "it does not effect me so why should i care attitude". this goes for so many things noadays it scares me that my kids will not be able to enjoy anything because someone got on there soap box and complaine till some politician passed a law to shut the winers up.

so whose is ready to get rid of skiing, football, basket ball and all those crippling sports. i raced motor cycles for years, did all kinds of crazy high speed stuff. and i know 5 times as many friends that are screwed up from football.

i had this happen this spring, had a old woman who kept going down and complaining about people deer hunting across the street from here house. i live in a rural area and we are getting a yuppie invation that is driving me nuts. well the county board decided that it is now against the law to fire a gun on your land if you have less than 10 acres, and they also decided that a bow and arrow is illegal to shoot also. it doesn't matter that i back up to a 40' high hill of nice soft dirt and that my son can no longer practice with his bow in my back yard.

do these people realize that another generation of this and nothing will be allowed. for your own safty you will be without a free spirt. living without freedom would not be much of a life.

i belive it was ben franklin said that if you are willing to give up freedom for security you deserve neither.

rant off

A square configuration 10 acre plot is 660' on each side. What is the range of a .22 caliber long rifle hollow point bullet? IIRC, the ammo boxes I used when I was growing up warned that a bullet could travel up to 1 mile. Now, do you see a potential problem here?

yea if that was there thinking they should have made everyone have at least 4 square miles. no one with any common sense would shoot with a out safe back stop. that is how it works, you don't shoot if you don't know where the bullit is going.

No, that's how it's supposed to work. The problem is the uneducated, inexperienced, drunk or "I don't give a darn" shooter who gets out in the yard spraying bullets everywhere.

Yep.. Those that shoot at metal cans... cars.. improper targets with no reguards or consideration of a ricochet into their neighbors house.

A little ****.. but it keeps stupid people from doing stupid things. Theres shooting ranges for safety, not to take away your freedom.

Your freedom says you can have the gun. The law and consideration for others tells you where to shoot it.
