I like the LP/LNG but I don;t have a tank(electric heat and appliances) and no lines (rural area). So it needs to be diesel or gas.

Nirion, If I were you I would really lokk hard at the Generac Guardian line of home standby gensets.

Click here for a link to all of theier diesel powered units. They range from 8kW to 750kW.

A couple of quick points for the diesel vs. gas.

Diesel gensets run at 1800 RPM as opposed to a gas engines 3600 RPM - this means quiter operation.

Diesel fuel stores longer when treated than gas that is treated.

You will have a secondary source of fuel for your truck if the need arrises.
