Gasser P Codes Meaning

Have 2000 Ram 1500, 5.9 gas, auto trans. (3+O.D. w lockout button), 4 WD.,115k miles. Getting random CEL since 85k (maybe 15-20), no codes, always reset by pulling battery cable. Haven't found trans. type yet.
Got CEL again, this time with P1740-TCC OD solenoid performance and P1388 which I can find no definition for, anybody know this one? Did notice rough/hunting type 2-1 downshift once but unsure if it set codes. Trans was serviced with filter and fluid change at about 85k in attempt to kill problem. Need input from all you knowlegible folks before I jump in. Thanks!

Check this out, says code P1388 is ASD shutdown relay control circuit.
That would definitely mess you up...........

Did you change the filter? Was the fluid very dark? If you are able to change filters, the solonoid is just above it and has a screen on it as well. Might look to see if it's plugging up, otherwise ahould be easy to swap. Might even think about adding a shift kit if you don't find evidence of real damage yet.

patdaly-thanks for link on codes, I am puzzled as I don't know purpose of ASD and therefore don't understand your comment, enlighten me please.
Redleg-haven't done anything yet but get fluid and filter-last one was done by 5*. Fluid looks good on stick and has no burn smell. Thanks for tip on location of solenoid and screen-will check it as it could account for the randomness of problem over years.
patdaly-please disregard above, I decoded acronym and now understand and agree with your comment.
Again thanks to both!

When referring to "other problems", would one be a hesitation between 2nd and 3rd? Your 46RE is pretty much just a strionger version than the 42RE which I'm a little more familiar with. Th 42's tend to get have the governor pressure solonoid go bad at times and usually causes the hesitation from 2nd to 3rd. Not sure but the 46 might have the same issue? The gov. press. sol. is on the passenger side and accessible without removing the filter. Unfotunately they're not that cheap. Doesn't always throw a code either. Just be careful not to break off the plastic locks on the wire plugs.

Redleg-hadn't noticed any hesitation other than at startup after truck has sat for a week or so, then it is slow to move either fwd/rev. Book says this is normal as fluid drains from converter and it takes a few seconds to fill? Appears to be correct based on what I see.
This truck isn't used a lot as I prefer signature truck. Right now codes are reset, will drive a while and reacquaint with it.
Thanks again, good tips! Will post more as warranted.

ASD stands for Automatic Shutdown Relay. Basically it kills power to things like your trans, if it were stuttering you could see some really funky things.

Just a thought, it is in the Power Distribution Relay box under the hood, at the very minimum,. I would reseat it.

Gasser P Codes Meaning

Hey all, got tied up on other stuff, just now getting back to truck. I found a TSB 21-11-00 which sounds suspiciously like what I am seeing. Think I'll do filter/fluid/and either buy(if available) new plate or ream existing out to .069" and see what happens. Also am noting terrible gas mileage, might be more to it.
Thanks for help so far, will get back with results.
