Gas-Guzzler Trade-In Calculator

Gas-Guzzler Trade-In Calculator.

Should you dump the SUV for a gas-sipper? That's the question everyone is asking these days. Edmunds.com, helps consumers answer that question with the release of its Gas-Guzzler Trade-In Calculator. The tool helps consumers determine the pay-back period and fuel savings associated with trading-in a fuel-thirsty vehicle for a more fuel-efficient one.

V-8 SUV's need not apply.

My dealer buddy informed me that Penske auto group is not accepting any V-8 SUV's in trade. However,a local dealer near the border here is actively seeking them. Mexicans are snapping them up with their subsidized fuel costs.

best I could come up with was going from my frontier to a prius gives me 73 months payback at $4.25 fuel.

thats quite a time frame for a dedicated commuter car, plus I would have to keep the truck since I need a truck.

A few dealerships I've gone to lately are not accepting any trucks or SUV's on trade. One even told me they just took a 08 jeep commander in on trade for $7,000!!!!

One of the local dodge dealers is offering 10K off dodge 1500 and 2500 trucks.
Another is offering 2.99 gas or diesel on all new trucks for 3 years up to some dollar value.

I really like it, its getting truck prices back to where they should be. there is no reason trucks should cost 2-1/2 times as much as a comparably equipped car.
