Funny High Idle Story

OK-have an '06 3500, and have had an '03 3500. High idle feature on both in cold temps. Since I live in Corpus Christi TX, I've never had it happen more than a couple of times on either truck. The few times that it has happened, I've always been sitting in the truck, so when the rpm's went up, I knew it was because of the chilly temps. This morning went out to start the truck up and let it run for a little bit before taking the kids to school because it was a lot colder than normal. I go back in the house and tell the kids to get their shoes and jackets on, while I go into the bathroom to relieve myself of all the coffee I've been drinking. Well, while in the bathroom doing my business, I can hear my truck all of a sudden start to idle up! I thought somebody was stealing my truck! What happened next was me missing a little more than the rim of the toilet, and me running past my kids trying to "close the barn door" on my way out the front door to stop a thieft in progress! And of course my next door neighbor was just getting in his truck to go to work when I come running out of the house with my "manhood" in my hands! Anyway, at least the inside of the cab was warmed up when I finally got into the truck. Gotta love that high idle feature!

CJ...
Good thing I didn't have a coffee cup in my hand when I read your post!!!
I hope your story was embellished just a little for the sake of story telling.

multiple keys are your friend.I have started my truck and locked the keys in too many times. I keep an extra key available on the truck and two extras in the house.
Vehicle theft in my area consists of the rare crackhead (they will usually just rummage around your truck and steel your cds) and the people who are looking to score some extra cash. Being close to Mexico, I would recommend when you start, lock the doors and unlock on your way out.

Fronty Owner, good advice! I do live in a "good" area of town, but still have a Ravelco installed on the truck, plus have cameras recording 24/7 on the house. Even have a motion sensor alarm setup that lets me know if anyone is anywhere near my vehicals parked in the driveway. That's why I freaked out so much this morning when I suddenly heard my truck "rev" up! I could'nt figure why the motion sensor hadn't gone off! If the motion sensor had gone off, it would have been the same story, but with me running outside with my "junk" in one hand, and a .45 in the other hand!

HMMMM Chris Johnson was seen running outside early this morning with his, err....Johnson in hand. That ought to make for a real good one liner in the neighborhood watch section of the local paper....

That's funny
On a more serious note, if it's that bad around there, why would anyone leave a vehicle running unattended?? ??
