Sweet! If I run across one of those old Wabbit trucklets for the right price I'll jump on it. Crank the pump up and put some big ol' stacks in the bed just to be stoopid.

Thats great, Free.99 is the right price for just about everyone. once you get her up and running on the road you should grease it and you wouldn't have to pay any fuel costs.

I was working at a VW dealer when they first came out.
There were underpowered, but runnung at 55 mph you could get 50+ mpg.

I want one I want one!!
A buddy of mine has a 81' VW Dasher. This thing is a total POS. (POS beacuase of cosmetics not mechanically) Mashing the pedal to the floor is about as productive as trying to blow a turd through a kazoo. He has already had the head re-done and everything is in great working order just doesnt have much for power. Dont get me wrong the car is reliable as any and the milage is (as said above) around 50 mpg. I would own one of the VW Diesel p-ups even knowing that they are extremely underpowered. Turn my ball cap around backwards and lean rock forward going up the grades and all should be fine.

I used to drive one to high school. When we bought it, if burned alot of oil. A new shortblock was installed. The car never did smoke, but when the clutch was good I could spin the tires in first and get scratches in 2nd and 3rd. When passing, shut the a/c off. It would motor down the interstate however fast you needed it too. You really need to let those little motors warm up in the winter before assaulting them. The aluminium head and cast block can make for some headgasket problems. We put 3 in, in 3 winters when I drove it.
One fall we got a suprise cold snap, I had just filled it with #2 the night before and my dad was worried about it gelling up on me. I drove at least 40 miles a day to school in back. Every evening when i got home we dumped some #1 in it. At the end of the week, after 200+ miles we could not get 5 gallons of #1 in it.
When it got real cold and hard starting after sitting in the high school parking lot, we did a little mods to the battery. We put the biggest one we could fit in the battery tray, then got the biggest battery that we could fit behind the seat, and ran cables to it. It would start any day if you could keep the fuel to it.
Dad sold the car a couple years ago for $100. It had been setting for a couple years. He started it right up, drove it over to the new owners place. Its now parted it, I wish I would have brought it to my house now.
