The Forgotten Diner 1/29-2/4
I haven't seen his write-up, but what I did was run everything thru constant duty, 500 amp solenoids. They look just like starter solenoids found on the old Fords, but they're rated to be constantly 'on'. I had one that activated everything when the key switch was turned on, then others that ran off the first key switched one that went to all the individual circuits. One for park lights, one for headlights, one for auxillary lights, etc. Never had one go bad and I had them in there for as long as I owned the truck, (13 years). The beauty of the system was that all the power was turned off automatically when the key was turned off, and because they only draw about 2 amps of power in the 'on' position, there was never any high draw on the key switch. I figured if there was ever a short circuit that, for some reason the fuses didn't blow, I could just shut off the key to cut the power and avoid a fire or at the least, a bunch of melted wires.
