NEW YORK (CNN) - A federal investigation into cruise-control problems is underway in an estimated 3.7 million Ford F-150s, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, auto safety regulators said Wednesday.
The possible defect in cruise-control mechanisms can cause a vehicle to catch on fire when the engine is off. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it's looking at 1995-1999 and 2001-2002 F-150s and 1997-1999 and 2001-2002 Expeditions and Navigators.

I rode to the H-D dealer last Saturday.
As I got closer to the intersection, I saw a huge column of smoke.
Yup, another Ford "Exploder" sitting at the red light living up to its name.
Total Loss for the owner/insurance company.
(No great loss as far as I was concerned)

This is no suprise to me. I had a friend die in a fire 3 years ago in an expedition. I did some research at the time and found that there were 9 vehicle fire safety test facilities in the US. Out of the 9, 6 were funded by Ford.
