I agree with what has been said.

Give him an OPTION, express your concern with his decision to race rather than see his Dad, then let HIM decide.

If you force it, it will cause friction and fighting.

Its unfortunate to be on the outside, clearly seeing what is happening, and watching someone make the wrong decision. As a brother it is important to give options and show your respect.

Always give respect, whether you agree or not.

First of all sorry about the family issues. I agree with pgilles. Just remember patience, patience, patience, you can't help if you don't have a working relationship so protect that at all costs.
