Is the EPA going nuts??

I just saw on Yahoo News how the Enviromental Protection Agency is thinking about using the California smog laws for small engines (lawnmowers) nationwide! I like my 20year old lawnmower with no muffler thank you very much!!! Why does it seem like the EPA is starting to regulate everything so much? Or has it always been like this?

True, but just be glad PETA doesnt have the government backing the EPA does! We would all be eating lettuce if that was the case...

EPA
eliminating petroleum altogether.

They need to be neutered some.
They do cause more useage of petroleum products by their regulations.
For years I was able to retune any gas motor to get 10-20% mileage.
Now it is done with diesels.

You cannot deny that the EPA has made our air much cleaner. We don'y have anywhere near the smog problems and whatnot now that we had 30 years ago, even with many more cars on the road.

If you like your 20 year old lawnmower so much, nobody's going to take it from you. In my opinion, newer small engines suffer much more from intentionally-crappy engineering then from EPA requirements...

That said, EPA carbon requirements are overdone... Global warming.

I know there is a thread about this on the political website, but IMO the only reason that global warming is suddenly getting so much attention is because Al Gore can't stand being out of the spotlight...Remember...this is the same guy who said he "invented the internet." I watched a show on Discovery the other day that said that some parts of the world are actually getting colder. But thats my rant for the day...

As usual, this has gone political.

Time to lock it up.
