help please.tsb reflash..overhead going nuts

I just had the tsb for smoke and economy.

The thing I now notice is that the over head won't stabilize. When I picked the truck up, I had hopes that it would soon read maybe 14mpg (preflash was around 12.2mpg). I hit reset twice. After reset it normally recalibrates up to 80mpg (I wish) and then slowly comes down. Now it fluctuates up and down every TWENTY FEET. It goes from 9.9 to 13.8 to 10.8 to 15.5 and then back down to 6mpg..it just wont stabilize..what gives?

I did notice two things wrong on my receipt.. one is that they have it as a 4x2 and the tsb number is written incorrectly..service advisor says it was a typo on her part ( what sense does that make?)

*I did leave a copy of the TSB on the drivers seat for the mechanic, and the high idle was enabled..so maybe it is a typo.

Is the computer recalibrating to me??

Thanks, bc3

I called them on it..they say its normal and that it needs time to adjust. hmm, never did before.

Thing is, I'm finding out quickly that consumers know more than the advisors thanks in part to forums like these. As it is, they never heard of the TSB itself or the high idle feature. I still have a 3ft quick plume of white smoke at start-up.

who knows..frustrating. bc3

I'm not sure what's different. But mine did the same. Previously it wouldn't go up very quickly after being reset, but it would drop down if I floored it a bit.

Now it behaves like most MPG gizmos I've had. It's trying to average out fuel used over distance, and since there isn't much distance traveled after a reset it jumps all over the place a bit. With a few miles, say 10 or so, it should be more stable.
