Re:DTR vs TDR

hehe. He was the admin of the TDR for a while, after Rob Spading. He's got a couple of other sites, but I don't know what they all are.

Jack:

I spent a lot of time at ford-diesel.com back when I had my 94 7.3 TD dually crewcab. What a comfortable truck, but no power!! And I had to rebuild the transmission twice. It had the E-4 OH NO! tranny. Your post brings back memories! ;D

Re:DTR vs TDR

hehehe, yep. That used to be the main site for me. I had a 1995 PSD and I had nothing but problems with the truck. I used to post a ton of questions on there, finally got rid of the truck in '99 and bought the RAM. I've had some problems with this truck too, but nothing near the old one. All in all, this has been the best truck I've owned and I plan on sticking with it. I still like to go over to the fd.com site and give them a hard time once in a while.

Re:DTR vs TDR

Here is our stats also. Just click on the link:

Forum stats only When looking at this link, hits is measured as a complete page view, not just a single hit, so the numbers should show anywhere between 20 and 30k hits per day in the forums. That measures differently from total hits.

Right now as a site, we're at about 3 million hits per month and about 45GB transfer per month. Our average real time bandwidth usage is about 400kbps with bursts up to 2mbps depending on traffic.

The interesting thing is the posts per day. Posts per day are much closer in numbers. Same with new users per day.

Kind of a fun thing to look at.

Re:DTR vs TDR

Tell ya what. I haven't talked to Rob in a long time, but I really like the guy. I've only talked to Robin from the TDR personally, but I find her to be a genuinely nice person. Like I said before, and I think that Rob and Robin will agree, there is a place for all three sites on the web, and none of them are going away any time soon. I think competition is good because it pushes us all to be better. We'll all have our problems as growth continues. We just have do deal with it in the right way, and I think we'll all be just fine.

Re:DTR vs TDR

I too I'm a member of all 3 and think they all have pro's and con's. I spend more time on the TDR as I feel there's is more info/action and I know more people over there. Yes the threads sometimes get heated up but a lot times good info comes out in the open that way. I'm an adult and don't need somebody else to make sure my feelings don't get hurt, I can hold my own.

I like it here too, more laid back, sometimes too much to my liking. We can't agree all the time and that's OK, as long as we stay civil, personnaly I like a good discussion from 2 or 3 different angles. I think we learn more that way. I think they compliment each other more than compete at this point. The pendulum swings back and forth, you just have to wait long enough.

I find it funny when the "other" site is mentioned in posts, seems nobody over here goes over "there"(or will admit to) but lots of people are up to date on what's going on! not a flame, just an observation. Plus a lot of handles are the same(me included) and it can't be a coincidence! ;D

I think it's all good and we all have one thing in common, an expensive addiction! More ideas we get, the thinner our wallets will be and that's a good thing! Kepp the economy going. I'll be glad to do my part.

Glenn

Re:DTR vs TDR

I've been a member of TDR for about 4 years now. I spend most of my time in the 1st Gen forum for obvious reasons..
I have also felt that the gripeing and pot-shotting is pretty tiresome, but it has become more civilized of late.
In the group that I moderate (1st Gen Forum) we have what is probably the most cooperative bunch on the site.
I don't know if it's because of the truck vintage, or as someone pointed out to me, there was less to "argue about" with our older trucks but it is really the more open and friendly Forum on the site... but then I'm a bit prejudiced.
Guys like Lil' Dog are the kind of people that hang in that Forum. I for one miss his input, and comradrie there... right Lil' Dog??
I think it was BigBlue who mentioned "fun". I see more humor and teasing, with absolutely no flaming or complaining in there too. All in all a great bunch.
Now having said all of that, I very much enjoy coming in here since it really does have that "homey" feel to it. Also, some of us ole dogs get to help the new guys a bit more too.
I learned what I know from good old "Old School" who was never too busy to answer a question for the umpteenth time.
Him and a few others are the reason I, and I suspect most of us, try to help others.... just payback.
Anyway Jack, I really enjoy your site too. And I do, now, have some idea of what it's like to be a moderator.... kinda like being the baloney in the sandwich at times aint it..?
Great job Jack, keep strokin.

Bob.

Re:DTR vs TDR

I to am a TDR member, I was one back in 93 for a year then dropped out. When I had my ford I never check on line for web sites but after I bought my 01 Dodge I started to check around on line and found this site first, lots of good info and helpful people. I then joined TDR mainly for the printed material, back in 93 thats all they had. One thing I will say is the TDR site has a spell checker that I like, I know DTR is working or looking at a spell checker down the road.

Great site thanks!!!!

KC
