There are many, many, people that do know ALOT about our trucks/engines on the TDR, I am proud to be part of it.

I won't put down any site relating to my interest in dodge/cummins, they all have at least some good information to share. Re:DTR vs TDR
Dave, I don't know if I should agree with you on the DTR group being "cuter". Webster defines cute as, "1. clever, 2. pretty or attractive, esp. in a dainty way".

Top just told me that "in a dainty way" perfectly describes him and his Special Forces duties in past days.
He also said that he was "clever" enough to know that I had better be joking. Ok Dave, I'll agree that we're cuter.

Jerry

Re:DTR vs TDR
The TDR has been around for some now now and DTR is still a new website, give DTR time and it will catch TDR on information. When the TDR started that website it was not full of information like it is now, DTR has to grow just like the TDR has. I am not knocking the TDR website.
Ricki
Re:DTR vs TDR
I have been a member of the TDR for three or four years now (longer than that cause I've had this truck for four years and I was a member way before I bought it) and still keep dues up. I haven't posted there for probably three of those years because of some of the smart replies I got back and some of the other stuff that goes on. As Jack can verify, the $35 does not break me up as someone mentioned earlier and I do like the quarterly publication that comes out. I haven't been to the site for a long time but as Forrest Gump would say, "that's all I'm gonna say bout that".
With that said, I stumbled across this site by accident one day and call it home now as you can tell. The forum is much cleaner and I think we have a good time. I have had the opportunity to meet a small fraction of the members and am looking forward to meeting a lot more over the coming months and years. As I've said before to Jack and all the people that keeping the site going, keep up the good work. We thoroughly enjoy it.

I have dual-citizenship also. While I do not post over there very often I do scan through the posts for topics of interest fairly frequently. The $$ ain't gonna break me (unless the wife decides otherwise) - information on both sites is good - less flaming here - both sites give me entirely too many bad, expensive ideas ;D - maybe I will renew over there, maybe I won't.

Next year my lab will move to within about half a mile of Jack and his merry band of servers on the edge of RTP. If he would work NORMAL hours I might be inclined to buy him lunch occasionally since he is such a good guy (plug for the commander-in-chief of the site).

Re:DTR vs TDR
I too, have been a TDR member for the last three years. I have met quite a few really good friends thru their website. I enjoy both sites and the TDR magazine for the info I have learned and the people I have met. Since becoming involved with the Dodge-Diesel.Org / Diesel Truck Resource.com site, I don't spend much time on the TDR site, but get over there from time to time. I like it here and devote about 99% of my puter time to this site. ;D ;D
Re:DTR vs TDR
I looked over their. Didn't care to much for it. There's no humor. That's what I love bout this place. LOTS of information, and lots of good natured humor that hardly ever turns into a heated discussion. Besides, we've got something that they don't. We've got Hoss (don't know if that's a good or bad thing
).

Re:DTR vs TDR
I too belong to the TDR, but haven't posted over there for a long while, last time I looked my post count was down from 1700 to about 1000 and some. ( guess they lost some.)
It was a real good site in its infancy just like this one is.
I learned a great deal over there and have to thank the older members for that. They still have a lot of good info on our trucks over there and would recommend some of the noobies to check it out once in awhile, but don't stay we want you here.
Re:DTR vs TDR
I don't remember for sure, but I joined what was called the Cummins Diesel Website back in 1998. That site was not a part of the TDR at the time, but it was started by a gentleman named Rob Spading. I think the site was up for a year or two before the TDR bought the site. I BELIEVE the TDR magazine has been around since 1993, but I'm just going by what I heard once.

Anyway, Rob sold the site to the TDR and at the time, there was less than 1000 users as far as I can remember. It took a few years for the TDR to get where it's at now. I've been on these sites for about 6 years now and I remember only a handful of members on the CDW back then.

Jeez, I was member number 124 on ford-diesel.com and I was one of the first 200 members on CDW. Not that anyone cares, but its hard to believe that some of these sites have been up that long.

DTR turned a year old on July 29th this year. I can't think of anything else to tell ya.
Re:DTR vs TDR
I am relatively new to the site. A Black Mountain get together informed me of it. Thanks guys ;D. I think this is the best site for many reasons. I have learned from it. I also used this site to motivate my fourth grade boys at school to realize that there is more to life than drugs. Some don't like to read books, but put them on this site, and they hate to log off. It has turned 5 of the boys around in grades and they would like to become diesel mechanics in the future. Thanks so much.
