About a half dozen cars tried to go around some construction barriers on the freeway, downtown last night. Found out why the road was closed, dropped them into some holes and left them there. Somebody gonna have some 'splainin to do...

Big question is... if there is damage to their cars is the insurance co. going to cover their stupidity for going around barriers. Which ultimately effects everyone.

No, they just wanted to take a short cut around the barriers and got bit. Not calling for a damage report when they fell in the hole might have something to do with Friday night and the bar scene off that exit? Lots of places to make a call there if the cell phone is dead. Besides, everybody knows what it''s like down there. They even call us ahead to check, and we get "But I need to go to such and such." "So why did you call if you don't want advice?"

Insurance will cover it if they had full coverage. But they'll probably get dropped after the fact for stupidity and the "fail to report an accident" ticket. Probably still cheaper than the drunk driving arrest though.

One of the guys just came back in. Said he was slowed in a back-up from another crash and a car a ways back cut the barriers, was passing the trooper in the right shoulder construction (already committed) and dropped in a hole right next to him!
