Thats awesome, congrats dad. If the time comes that I ever get another Lab, I'll probably name him Angus. Could always wait till you get him home and see what kind of personality developes, then you might find a name that fits the personality...Best of luck with the new pup.

They're so adorable when they're little. Make sure to pickup lots of THINGS FOR HIM TO CHEW ON.

If he whines at night, try this. Get a wind-up clock that tics and wear an old T-shirt (or something you don't mind getting ruined) for a day, and put them both in his pen. Someone told me about that, and it worked great with my lab.

One more thing. My grandparents did this with their dogs, and my parents with theirs. It's a real PITA, but start now if you want him to "go" in only one part of your yard. Take him out on a leash a few times per night and after every time he eats, eventually coming back in only after he's done his thing. You'll learn his routine. Don't let him off the leash for a couple months. After while, he'll learn where it's OK to take care of business and you can stop the leash thing , only having to watch him so he doesn't stray too far where it's OK. I did this with mine and now, whether she's playing in the yard and nature calls or I let her out first thing in the morning, she knows right where her area is and won't go anywhere else regardless if I'm outside with her or not. A lot of work, but it made life easier in the long run. She even uses the same area when we're camping after I show her where is OK the first or second time. Works out great so you're not having to watch where you step all the time!
