Digital SLR camera's
I've been ecstatically happy with my D200.
Only a D3 could make me as happy, albeit at 4x (or more) the price. The investment now is glass-- as it should be. Bodies go obsolete pretty often, but glass is a wiser investment.
I have the 18-200 DX for my D200, and I recently got a 50mm 1.8 to have something a little faster. Fast it is! That little cheapo will focus as fast as my eyes will, and on a DX sensor (1.5FOV crop) it's a perfect portrait focal range (75mm equiv on a film camera). At $110 NEW, it's quite a bargain and very high quality.
I've decided that I'm going to invest in non-DX Nikkor lenses as much as I can, because I want to go "full frame" on my next camera, and these lenses assure compatibility. Plus, the Nikon F mount is legendary for compatibility, opening up a whole universe of used lens options-- saving me a bunch of cash.
96_12V-- i might be moving near Central IL, so I'll look you up if I settle there.
