Unhappy Diesel More then Super Unleaded???

Just wonder'n. Can anyone tell me WHY diesel is more the super unleaded? (At least here in my neck of the woods). Last week at my favorite fill'in hole I was paying $2.07 a gallon and now its jumped up to $2.39 last night? I seen it as high as $2.69 yesterday. I was always told how much cheaper it is to make diesel then gas? The only thing I can figure is because of supply and demand. More diesel engines on the road? We always take the truck everywhere because its cheaper/more economical to run then the wife's turbo convertable vw beetle (Super Unleaded). Just wanted to vent. Tye

I sure hope it drops before the middle of April - I'll be heading up there to see the folks. Can't believe how high diesel has gone over the past few months. I've been fortunate that the Texaco by my house is $2.05...for now - everyone else in town is $2.17 and up.

It's all a big conspiracy between the Bush administration and the oil companies. Now where's that tinfoil?

It's 'cuz nobody has a furnace that runs on unleaded gasoline to heat their house.

In addition, many utilities use oil-fired electrical generating plants at time of peak demand to suppliment their water/coal/nuke plants.
High demand....like winter when many houses are using electric heat/heat pumps, and short daylight days when everyone is cooped up running all the lights/TVs-video games/microwaves/computers/space heaters/ you get the picture.

Oh, and don't forget corporate greed.
They charge that much 'cuz they can get away with it.

Supply and demand.....price is dictated by the inventories of home heating oil, just like SH said.

When inventory drops, price rises.

I just paid 2.19 down here in SW Florida. Was 2.09 2 weeks ago which was the low. It was up in the 2.30-2.40 range for awhile there.
