Fuel Prices - Diesel is $.64 more than Unleaded

Wow - what the heck is going on right now? In the St. Louis area Unleaded is at $2.55 and Diesel is at $3.19 at the same freaking station !!! What the heck happened?

Well, I guess I'll be riding the mountain bike for more than just exercise now....

So far we're about $.45-.50 more for diesel, but as unleaded drops the diesel goes up. With the current prices, it costs the same to drive the truck to work (~16-17 MPG) as it does to drive the Jeep (14 MPG on a good day).

It's the beginning of home heating oil season. Every year diesel goes up in October but usually by about 20-30 cents. I'm sure this has to do with the so called shortage of heating oil.

Diesel is 0.62 cents higher per gallon here. BUT...I get 8 miles more per gallon with my diesel Jeep than the wife gets with her identical gas Jeep. So let the smoke roll!

Lets say I drive 500 miles in a week. My CTD gets about 20.5 mpg. Thats 24.4 gallons. At $3.19/gal, that = $77.84. My fiances car (Toyota Solara) gets 30 mpg. In the same 500 miles, it uses 16.67 gallons. Gas around here is about $2.59. Thats only $43.18. And a V8 gas truck getting 14mpg uses 35.71 gallons for a total of $92.48. So, the moral is, if you have a car, drive it to work, if you drive a truck, make it a CTD, even with .60 price difference per gallon.

Fuel prices

This sucks. I'm paying double what I did a year ago! When the price of crude hit $70/bbl, our prices didn't budge one cent. Now that crude is $5 less, the prices jumped 80 cents. I wanna see just one State AG with the cajones to start a RICCO investigation!

I'm going to have to stop complaining (not), I apparently have it good here.

Gas $2.69, diesel $2.99... And I thought Connecticut was expensive. Hang in there guys!

$3.19 on Friday.
$3.14 on Saturday.

$3.29 when I filled up at noon today.

I didn't take note of the price of unleaded, but $2.80 sticks in my head.
