my fiance has a 98 mitshubishi eclipse automatic and we think the transmission has gone out but not sure. she went to start it the other day and she says somthing under the hood is louder then normal and her blower is messed up if you put it on med it makes a bad noise so she thought her heater went out completly so she turned it off and her check engine light poped on. When she went to drive it it would rev up to about 3000 rpms at 20 mph but it red lines at 6 rpm. i know nothing about cars we thought it was the transmisson but would that throw the check engine light on? and also will this work on her car i dunno what kind of port it has since its foreign.

we are hoping its somthing else besides the tranny but we have a feeling if it isnt the tranny its about to go anyways.

I wouldn't waste money on it, unless you plan to use it a lot in the future. Take the car to an Auto Zone and they will read the codes for you.

As far as the problem......sorry, I can't help.

 

we dont think it will make it to a auto zone she can only go about 20 mph but i think we are gonna get it towed to a shop i guess. Thanks for your time i appreciate it

thanks appreciate it her uncle has a mechanic shop and we finally got a hold of him so we are gonna take it to him tomarrow he said he would take a look at it .

 

got it back from the shop it needed points and plugs she blew 2 spark plugs all is better now
