daughter made it back safe, pic in local paper

they moved it off the front page:
http://progress-index.com/news/soldi...ments-1.765647

http://progress-index.com/

we came up for the return ceremony, brought my mom, my wife.
wife's sister came up

was a good time.

my mom had been to the pier several times when i returned in the Navy, but we had never been to a ceremony like this,

they marched them in, said a prayer/invocation,
few words,

then cut them loose.

was pretty quick, and pretty cool.

someone had a special dress for the grandbaby, and the local photographer got a lot of pics of her and thier names.

went out to eat next day, and pulled up to the restaurant, and my daughter had a FIT, started screaming that's "my baby in the newstand"

we thought she was crazy

i think the pic in the paper made them all pretty happy.

Welcome home to your daughter and her unit from an old veteran. And thank her and her unit especially for what they do for our soldiers killed in battle. I think they have one of the toughest jobs in the military

"Taking Chance" is a movie worth seeing if you haven't. The respect shown for the fallen by their brothers in arms is amazing. It takes special people to do the work your daughter does

my son is active duty getting ready to deploy again, I pray I never have that knock on the door

Hal, thanks for talking to her early in her career, after our posts on DTR.
that helped her get over some hurdles.

Yes Sir, that is one bad movie. if you don't cry during that, i don't know what will make you cry.

we have watched it several times. they filmed it before her time at Dover, but she said it was accurate. all the stuff in it is fake, though, they did not want to dis-honor anyone by filming any real remains.

Amen. i am glad she went, and now that she is home, she is too.
we have a good sized family, and having a few of us there for her return made it special.

i dunno about that she is the youngest, and her and the oldest got into a good talk on Facebook about which one inherited the worst parts of my big mouth

she said "the Army does not really appreciate a 'tell like it is' big mouth in the lower ranks, esp when the upper ranks are doing something stupid"

they left her off the flight manifest to fly back home. she had to fly Space A for one leg. i can imagine her comments...

who do you think she takes after?
I told her she sounded like JWBM......

thanks guys.
