Cummins/GMC/Allison!!!! if GMC did the body configuration of my Dodge. I like the truck alot, but I gotta admit, I miss the bells and whistles of my ol' GMC's. And that Allison!!!wish I would have never test driven one! Only Fords I would ever own: My 31 Truck streetrod (My mistress!) or any other 30's vintage Ford, 66 Mustang, 56 F-100 or a genuine Cobra (in my dreams)

Of all the things....

I have driven several Fords over the past 10+ years for company work and I have to admit they have the ride and comfort features beat on a Dodge. Still, the Dodge is the only pickup for my own use that I will own right now. The best riding p/u I had, however, was my '99 Chevy. (sorry guys!)

But even that being said, I still like the combination of a Dodge and Cummins. Rumor had it, and I don't know how true it is at all, that Dodge was finally going to get that Mercedes diesel within the next 3 years. If that were to happen, I would really consider that upgrade. Mercedes has been making diesels since before...wow...I don't even know when.

Ford has its fair share of problems with this new power plant, but I think they will get them worked out. At least I hope so; our new ambulance is supposed to have one of those 6.0s!

Still...Dodge/Cummins...the way to go!

tough choice actually.
When i had my f250 7.3 td i loved that truck and the interior appointments...it was a great truck, solidly built and a nice looker. But..... that engine nickle and dimed me to death. At the time..... IF Ford had had the cummins option, i would have bought one. Now..... i wouldn't touch a Ford ( although i still like the looks of them) The Dodge/Cummins combination is a winner and if they stick together they can only keep getting better and better.

I'm a Mopar man! I love that I can get a short box single rear wheel one ton QC. Really don't want the wheelbase that comes with the crew cab.

And I never was too crazy about the Ford 2wd front end design. Otherwise, I might consider the Ford with the Cummins.

That being said, my dad's '89 F-250 7.3 with an ATS turbo system taught me what great tow vehicles diesels could be, especially when fanatically maintained by an old B-24 pilot! He's never had to overhaul that C-6 and the engine still pulls like mad. Noisy as hell, though!

Well I hate to but I gotta say it but Dodge has a long way to go in the area of creature comforts, things like moonroof and climate control and real good leather............ and stuff like interior lighting and just a bunch of little things..........then ya got stuff like aluminum wheels and mirror mounted turn signals. Don't get me wrong, I like my Dodge (well the cummins) but they have a long ways to go when it comes to the rest of the truck. Ford and Chevy both have a lot of goodies that Dodge has yet to offer. So if I could get a Cummins in a ford.I would be all over it......................sorry

I buy a truck too be a truck. I don't want leather, sunroof, etc. etc.. Not dissing anybody who wants it. I've got it on the wife's Expedition , but not on my truck. This is my first and hopefully last Dodge ( because I plan on keeping it forever) but I sure would like the 4-door crew cab with a shortbox(5 kids). It should be obvious too everyone that GM & Ford copied the looks of Dodge on their newer trucks. When all is said and done I've never driven a 3rd Gen Dodge so I don't know what improvements they've made, but I couldn't be happier with my truck even after having to change the high dollar injector pump at 104,000mi.. Besides, who wants a quiet diesel?

From the looks of this poll, if Ford were to start offering the Cummins then Dodge would lose a third of their current customers. If Ford were smart, they'd start talking to Cummins.

Aint gonna happen for a long time, not since Dodge and Cummins signed a long term contract again recently.

Is that an exclusive deal...where Cummins can only provide engines to Dodge?? I always wondered about that. Doesn't matter much anyway. I think Ford is happy with the PSD. I still think they'd pick up a HUGE chunk of Dodge's market share if they offered a Cummins though.

I'm not quite so sure Ford is happy with their engine supplier. They are making some noises about looking around. That might be interesting.

I would not buy anything else than a Dodge. For one all the dealers in my area for Ford and really bad. I got the run around before by all of them. 2nd a good friend of mine will soon be the owner of his dads Dodge Dealership. 3rd. I love the way my truck drives. I have been in many chevy and Ford trucks along the same years as the trucks we own. To me they were jolt wagons and did not ride as nice as my Truck. alos I have seen all those "creature comforts" fail in Fords and chevys. No thankx I will take my power windows and locks and thats it. as long as Dodge has Pw amd PL I will be happy.

I was raised on Mopars. The Cummins engine is to me the closest thing to being able to go back in time to 1969 and order a new Hemi Charger.

Plus, you can't haul much of a load or go offroading in a Charger.

Not to mention, my truck handles almost as good as a Charger

I ended up getting my truck partly because I had to get rid of my '69 Coronet 2dr HT. I had big plans for that car.

But after having my truck, I almost never even look back. Threw away all my old Mopar Action magazines.

Shoot, with some mild bolt-ons I have about TWICE the torque of a 440 SIX PACK!!

NOt to mention I get 20mpg

The Dodge Cummins is the best Mopar ever. It's even got the crappy paint and bad fit and finish just like the original MOpars

Split Decision Here.

My wife and I just finished truck shopping for her. I wanted the Dodge/Cummins crew cab, but she doesn't like the look of the 3rd generation front ends. We both like the Ford Superduty crew cabs, but I don't like the Powerstroke motor. Had to be able to seat four adults so...

We got a used Suburban. Lot cheaper than either of the two, but no CTD.

If Ford had put a CTD under the hood, we would have bought a new truck, and I would be in the poor house. Of course I would be able to pull the poor house.

James

Never had a Dodge before this one but there is no way Id trade it for anything else now. Used to think GM's were the best made vehicles on the road.......not anymore, we own 2 and they have turned into complete pieces of junk, IMO. Have a F250 at work I cant really say I see where people say Fords have better build quality. The thing has more squeaks and rattles than any Dodge Ive ever been in.

Just my .02cents but I think Dodge gets a undeserved bad rap sometimes....
