I agree!
After the problems that I had with my F-250......I gave Dodge a chance and have been extremely happy with the choice. I do have two gripes though, 1. Catch up to the others with a REAL Automatic transmission that can work with a Exhaust Brake and 2. Both front and rear soft lockers!!!
It is a dream! A real 4X4....not 1X1 (one front and one back)

This is my first Dodge. I had to Fords previous to the Dodge. An '84 F150 and a '90 F150. Those two trucks were tough and both had one of Fords best gas motor. The 300 inline 6. Both were great trucks and I was sure sad to see them go. Sadness quickly faded when I test drove my Dodge. I promptly bought it. I really like the looks of it. It rides great. And its got one heck of a motor under the hood.
However, had Ford offered a F-250 with a Cummins, I would have probably steered that way. But I am glad they didn't, because I now have an awesome truck with a Ram head on the front of it !

I kept blowing transfer cases out of my Ford trucks. And rear axles. And the bodies would rust out fast. And the electronics would have problems.
Had no problems with a '98 Dodge 2500 360 V8, other than the engine was gutless. Have had no problems with my '02 CTD, beyond the lift pump.
Ford makes a better truck than Dodge? Not in my experience. Fords sure look a lot cheesier -- no sense of style. Box on wheels, with bad color choices. (The new SuperDuties are a bit better, though. Like the indigo.)

Personally with my past exp with all three, The Dodge has been the poorest quality of the bunch. It is a 93 so I cant fairly say on the new trucks. The CTD is what made me buy the Dodge. My old Ford gasser 4x4s were indestructible. Honestly what could be stronger? NP 205 TC, NP 435 Trans, Dana 60 front and rear. and a good old 390. The fuel economy and power is great in a CTD I will admit. But my repairs outweigh the fuel savings.

I would definitly take the Dodge Cummins.
My 94 has held up so well and believe me, it is not babied. In fact probably closer to the abused side. It has had a few necessary repairs, but nothing that required emergency work. It has over a quarter million miles and I plan on keeping it for several more. I think that Dodge has put together a good truck that will hold up to the hard work that I need it for. I'll definitly get another Dodge when that time comes.

Dodge all the way. I work at a rental yard and every super duty we have ever loaded a trencher (ditch witch 1030 aprox 800lbs) into it has demolished the tailgate and you can see exactly where the tires were in the bed (2 ruts). We recomend a trailer to everybody that ownes a ford some accept and some don't those that don't end up either buying a tailgate or just going without. To me the bed and tailgate should be the toughest part of the truck as far as the body goes so what does this say for the rest of the truck? I don't know but I dont want to find out. I am constantly loading my 4-wheeler (800lbs plus myself and gear aprox 200lbs, total weight aprox 1000lbs) in the back of my truck and no probs so far. Good luck to those who have a ford and want to use it for a TRUCK .

i was gonna vote for a chevy/cummins combo but it wasnt there so i chose dodge/cummins. sorry guys i love the interior comfort and the true crew cab of the chev.

DODGE all the way.. this is my first dodge truck. though iv drivin a few first and second gen trucks.all with the CTD ther a great truck and engine combo. when i was looking for a new truck i was looking at a 2nd gen. then for the thrill of it i test drove the 3rd gen... and then drove it home, all smiles... best truck ive ever owned.
i tow a 36 foot fiver combined its 22350 just under gross. and am totally impresed with the power and towing capabilities.. this DODGE/CUMMINS truely is a real Truck-truck/engine combo.. even if ford DID happen to get the cummins.. Id still transplant the cummins into the dodge.

I have had a bullseye on me ever since I bought my Dodge/Cummins from my family who is diehard Chevy. But the Cummins is the reason I bought this truck and they all shut up when the smoke flies and the little dodge puts the passes on the old crew cab big block when it s pullin a bigger load. No F*rds here. If it werent for the Dodge/Cummins, Id have a Duramax w/ 6spd. Only thing I dont like about chevys are IFS. I hope to have a 12v in and older Chevy someday. Although I will say that since havin the Dodge there are no disapointments all around. Its a tough truck IMO.
