How right you are. That doesn't pose a question to you? Iraq didn't attack us. Iraqis didn't attack us. They were more westernized than most middle east countries in that region. Osama and Saddam weren't buddies. They both hated America is not a conspiracy. It is only a common hate for us. They also hated each other. If anything, it appears as if Iraq will be taking a big step backward as thier new government leans more and more toward religious rule.
We found Saddam wth his new underwear in a basement under a rug in a house out in the middle of nowhere yet Osama (the guy who orchestrated the attack on us) seems to slip away into the hills. I still believe there's more to that than he simply plays good hide and seek.
I'm not sure if W is more like Yosemite Sam or Dale Gribble but, it's not working. They hate us now more than before and they're not afraid of us nor do they respect us. I have no doubt they're orchestrating their next attack as we parade around smuggly with our flags and "support our troops" magnets on our vehicles. We will be blindsided again.
But that's just my opinion...

Who do you refer to as 'they'? Because if you are referring to the Iraqi's, they are glad we are there. As for Osama, Look at the differences in terrain and troop numbers. There is a reason we caught one, and not the other, and there is not any conspiracy theory.

Mike

PS-I bet you don't have a 'Support or Troops' magnet on your car, do you? (just my opinion).

Saddam wasn't murdering his people if they didn't like him. The average Iraqi men and women didn't like him. Remember the kid beating Saddam's head on the statue with his shoe? But Saddam did put to death anyone who threatened his control over the chaos that's happening now. It's the only thing they understand. These are people who have very twisted religious beliefs. We're not going to change that.
And yes, we kill people who take their hate for our government to extremes. Timothy McVey will not be expressing his opinion in front of any federal buildings anymore.

Our son was deployed July 18th. A co-worker just returned. Both are in favor of the efforts in Afghanistan. Neither are in favor of our invasion of Iraq but will serve our fearless leader and obey his commands right or wrong.

I don't get into protests any more than I would drive my truck over crosses set out by protesters representing lost loved ones. The lady should go home and make the best of it but if she feels she needs to protest, that's one of her "freedoms".
I have a book, Saddam, King of Terror. You read it you will have a different opinion. The only thing we did really wrong was stopping in the first Gulf war.

As I said before I am very conservative and a staunch republican, but all we are doing in the middle east right now is stiring up a hornets nest that is going to bight us in the butt big time. You are not going to change the minds of these crazy Islamics that strap bombs to themselves and blow up public places. You can't talk sence to those people, and there are a lot of them over there. God help our children for the mistake's we are making now.

First, thanks for the admin for keeping the thread open. Everyone seemed to voice his or her opinion while keeping it civil. Venting every now and then is cool.

I think were all frustrated with the terrorist, the war and high gas prices. I will always support our troops and our president, even though I may not always agree on the decisions made.

I look at the big picture, sort of. We don’t have all the information or know what’s happening behind closed doors. We really have no idea what other countries are doing to influence our decisions. Our news media (locally, nationally, globally) has the doom and gloom mentality, very little positive information is ever given in the news.

We were attacked (911), and we sent the world a message. It may or may not have been the right time or place, only time will tell. We at least sent a message that we won’t tolerate terrorism and didn’t sit on our hands. Our soldiers put them selves in harms way everyday, whether it be war or peacetime to ensure our freedom. I thank them and pray for their soul’s and their safe return home to their families.

Well said, as a navy wife it is hard to know that your family is over there. But the support of so many helps everyone. In my husbands family, he is the third one to go over there to defend our country. His older brother has been in both wars and his sister was over there about a year and a half ago.

As a Navy mom, if my son were to be killed in the line of duty I would be devastated but extremely proud. I know why my son enlisted, he told me with tears in his eyes and courage in his heart. He enlisted to protect his family, friends and those who call themselves Americans from anyone who would threaten our safety and freedom.
Good or bad, right or wrong, left or right, these men and women are there because of us. If you cannot respect that enough to look past the political crap and to stand up and say thank you, you have some real problems.

Fact of the matter is that the reasons why people join the military are as varied as people are. The most important aspect is the fact that ALL of them are puting their lives on line in the service of their, our country. There is nothing more honorable than that. For anybody to make any other issue out of any aspect of the service of these brave men and women is a disgrace.
