Well, I tell ya. I voted for G.W. twice, but I am really starting to lose confidence in him. I am about as conservative a guy as you'll ever find, I am friends with our very conservative Republican Governor here in Missouri, but man, this whole country is off their rocker. The conservative's will stick up for Bush no matter what bad decision's he make's, and the Dem's will Dam him for the good one's. I think he took the wrong aproach getting in to Iraq, I don't think it is bad that we are over there, nor am I glad we are over there. He couldn't keep his pants on to get into Iraq, he had to go in like a Texas cowboy with guns a blazin before anybody had a plan how it was gonna go down. Bad planning in my opinion. The other big bone I have to pick with our president is the darn gas prices. Now I am sorry, anybody who doesn't think the most powerful man in the world can do something about gas prices needs to have a reality check. He happens to be from Texas and be an oil man and has a lot of buddies who helped him get to D.C. who are oil men and has friends in Saudi Arabia. It makes pretty good since to me and if he was out for the intrest of all American people instead of the Texas old boy system we'd all be able to hold on to more of our money instead of my wife spending $100 a week to drive her Liberty CRD that gets 25mpg to her job in the city. This dam high gas is gonna bring the economy to it's knee's soon if something is not done, and I've got republican friends who live in Texas who will agree with me on that.

Luke, I'm not knocking you at all, but you need to read General Tommy Franks book, "American Soldier", to understand the planning. Maybe after reading it you will still feel that it was bad planning, but we were headed to Iraq shortly after we landed in Afghanistan.

ramlovingvet,

I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your service to our country!

I usually make a trip out west to visit my dad in Wilderville every January. He may be headed to Portland this year though as it looks like the VA is finally going to get him in for some corrective surgery on his shoulder after two years. They kept telling him it wasn't a priority and bumped him out as other "more important" patients came in.

Anyway, I always make a run from Crescent City up to Coos Bay after cruising through the Redwoods so if he stays in Southern Oregon this coming winter and I head out that way I'll let you know. Maybe we can catch up for a cup of coffee.

Smokindog, your right I should read it before making judgement, but heck, I don't even read my bible as much as I should so I don't imagine I'll get to it anytime soon. I guess I am just sour because of everyone's biased attitude's toward their own party. Everyone is looking through rose colored glasses at their own candidate. All these Rush Limbough's, Shawn Hannity's, Al Franken's and Michael Moore's are making me sick to my stomach. All a bunch of propaganda spewer's in my opinion. Some people think I am radical, but I think we should do away with the party system in this country all together. How many people would know who to vote for if the candidate didn't have an "R" or a "D" behind their name?

VERY interesting thoughts in your last few posts. I agree on the party thing, or atleast I would like to see a THIRD party have a fighting chance?

I just saw another article on this whole protest thing. This time from the mom of a marine that was killed. She is doing the exact opposite. She asking for more support. See article for more info.

Hey, ain't nothin' wrong with Texas Cowboys and blazin' guns! When the Texans started shooting, it didn't end until Tejas was The Republic of Texas. But then, I don't think they had to deal with protesting mothers and left wingers, just the task at hand.

Heck, we're still the only state that flys The Lone Star at the same level as The Stars and Strips.

Saddam wasn't murdering his people if they didn't like him. The average Iraqi men and women didn't like him. Remember the kid beating Saddam's head on the statue with his shoe? But Saddam did put to death anyone who threatened his control over the chaos that's happening now. It's the only thing they understand. These are people who have very twisted religious beliefs. We're not going to change that.
And yes, we kill people who take their hate for our government to extremes. Timothy McVey will not be expressing his opinion in front of any federal buildings anymore.

Our son was deployed July 18th. A co-worker just returned. Both are in favor of the efforts in Afghanistan. Neither are in favor of our invasion of Iraq but will serve our fearless leader and obey his commands right or wrong.

I don't get into protests any more than I would drive my truck over crosses set out by protesters representing lost loved ones. The lady should go home and make the best of it but if she feels she needs to protest, that's one of her "freedoms".

What most of the people over here don't understand, is that 98% of the insurgents are NOT from Iraq. They are from other countries. There have been insurgents identified from Bosnia for example. These are the people that want to fight against any good that people bring into the world.

If GWB could run again as CINC, I would vote for him again. At least he has the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what we believe in, and not be afraid of what people think. If more support from the administration was present in Somalia in 1993, I believe many deaths on our side would have been diverted.

If you look at the death stats from Iraq, you will see quite a few of them are not from combat.

Mike
