It was the young lads decision as a man to fight and die for his country ... which he did, gallantly. While it is sad that any of us have to die in the military ... it happens, it has ALWAYS happened and it will ALWAYs happen as long as there is hatred in the world. Every one of us KNOW this before we sign the dotted line.

Remember ... this is a VOLUNTARY thing.

Mom needs to get over her grief someother way and stop dishonoring her son and what he believed in.

O.K lets keep one thing in mind. No one made this kid join the Military - he did it on his own. He not only did it once, but he reinlisted. From what I understand he was a good man, soldier and fought for what he believed in. Good for him, unfortunatly he paid the ultimate price, which I'm sure he was some what prepared to do seeing how he reinlisted and went back to fight for his country. This whole thing is idiotic. Unfortunatly his mother is a loon, she is digracing every soldier who has fought & died for this country. She ought to be ashamed of herself. All she wants, is to talk to the President? She allready had that opportunity, she met with the President shortly after the sons death.

He served his country, paid the price. I'm proud of him, everyone should be proud and thankfull. The mother needs to go home

What is she going to say to the president? Is it going to make any difference at all? Most everyone knows that I am against the War in Iraq but it's too late now. We're there for the long haul. Right or wrong we're there.

I will be quite honest, I know very little about this woman but whatever she could say to the president isn't going to amount to a hill of beans at this point. It's kind of a mute point now wouldn't you say?

Wow...I think this is twice in one month that I've actually agreed with T-7.

EXCEPT...I don't think it's about her son anymore at all. I think it's about her political agenda. Either way, he's not going to talk to her and I don't think he should.

If I were to lose my life in the war, and my mother did what Mrs. Sheehan is doing, I would turn in my grave.
My Mother knows how I feel about this country, and that if I died, I died proud serving the country I love. She would not put her effort into protesting the war, she would put her efforts into helping the spouses and other families cope with their losses.

As for President Bush saying the mission was accomplished...it was. The mission was ousting Hussein.

I was going to write something similar but you have said it perfectly.

Thanks for your service.

We didn't go there to democratize Iraq. We went there to find their weapons of mass distruction that we sold them in the '80s. When the weapons (over 98% were accounted for piece by piece with serial numbers) didn't show up, alluva sudden it's a humanitarian effort to democratize a people who hate us and don't want us meddling in their affairs. The reason so many hate us over there to begin with. Now the new constitution is about to set women back to square one over there and the religious nut cases are a ticking time bomb. Yes Saddam applauded when the Saudi's who trained under Osama in Afghanistan and Venice Florida attacked us using our own resources as weapons not requiring money from any foreign country. They all applauded. They hate us. Even the ones who put on a friendly face. I'm all in favor of finding and killing Osama. Saddam had Iraq under control. Now it's out of control. I was never and I'm still not in favor of us invading Iraq. Putting our soldiers in that bloodbath over there as sitting ducks is not supporting our troops. Especially when Osama could very easily be living here in the states right under our noses.

You really can't see a difference? Saddam would have slaughtered anyone he thought might be a terrorist and everyone around them. He was known as a brutal dictator with control over his country. Was he not? Isn't that what he was hated for? Now they're free to reek havoc. Freedom means different things to different people. I don't believe it'll work over there. They need someone like Saddam to keep it under control. Now we're over there trying to give them a hug? That's not what we went in there for. I haven't forgotten.

Sad.
I can only imagine how she feels since I am a navy wife. My husband is currently over in Kuwait and will be there till Feb 2006. If something were to happen to him over there, instead of being upset at the president for not pulling troops out I would be proud that he died serving our country, doing what he felt needed to be done.

its evrybodys right to speak their mind on bush, the war,and anything else they want to.thats what the constitution is about..and you say deport someone for whats their right to do??maybe you should go study the constitution yourself.....and dont be ridiculous, even if a man doesnt neccessarily think what we are doing is right,he can still support the troops and the fact that they are doing their job,and we are all proud of them for that.....and if any of you are so fired up about the war in iraq, they are taking men up to 38 years old now,so go sign up.........and i do support all troops in iraq and pray they make it home safely.........................bama

Very well said. That's how I feel about my husband, or anyone who joins the military. No one forces them to go into it.
